Hey friends! I'm here with a new scrapbook layout using my Go the Scenic Route collection!
Check out the process video to see how this page came together from start-to-finish:
This entire layout idea started with the photo. I grabbed Jane and asked her to stand against the wall with her hand out as if she's grasping imaginary balloon strings, with the intent to build the page around the photo. I've never designed a layout around a photo like this before so it was really fun to do!
This entire layout idea started with the photo. I grabbed Jane and asked her to stand against the wall with her hand out as if she's grasping imaginary balloon strings, with the intent to build the page around the photo. I've never designed a layout around a photo like this before so it was really fun to do!
I started by fussy cutting a few rows of the hearts from Paper 4 and punched the hearts from the same paper found in the 6x8 Paper Pad. To create dimension I folded each of the hearts in half and opened them back up. For the background I grabbed the pink B-side of Paper 16 and decided where I wanted the photo. From the point of her hand I drew a dot with a pencil.
Next I used my sewing machine with a running stitch and made a whole bunch of straight lines in a bunch of different colors of thread radiating from the pencil point to the edges of the layout. These are now the “balloon strings”. I splashed watered down white acrylic paint and lots of Pastel Dreams and Tropicals watercolors across the stitching and let it dry. Then I used liquid glue to attach all of the hearts across the stitching. Heart balloons complete!
To make it really look like my daughter is holding the balloon strings I cut a small slit at the base of the stitching and tucked the photo up underneath. I layered two floral Ephemera Die Cuts under the left side of the photo. The title is made from lots of stickers: "TAKE ME AWAY" and "PLAY A LITTLE" are from the Puffy Phrase Thickers. "TODAY" is from the Puffy Word Stickers. And "JOURNEY" is from the Cardstock Stickers which I notched the end and tucked her the right edge of the photo.
To finish I wrote journaling with a blue pen below the title and stamped the date below. Because the top is so colorful and full of lots of colors, I left the bottom right section empty to keep a nice balance.
I hope you’re inspired to create a "heart balloons" layout based around this type of photo using my new Go the Scenic Route collection! Thanks for stopping by!
