Butterfly Paper Clip Mini Album by Amber Mitchell

Hello crafty friends, Amber Mitchell here on Paige's blog today to share with you this fun, butterfly paper clip mini album I created using the Layered Butterfly cut file and the colorful & happy Go the Scenic Route collection.

Shaped mini albums are one of my favorite projects to create. I love how they're not only cute and fun, but also interactive.

To create the base of my mini album, I used my Cricut software to weld two butterflies together in a vertical mirrored image. I used the largest butterfly from the Layered Butterfly cut file and connected them together using thin, long strips.

With my base created, I moved on to cutting out six individual pieces. I cut these from Paper 5Paper 9Paper 14Paper 16Paper 17, and Paper 23. I then machine stitched along the edges of all of these pieces to add texture.

To turn them into pages, I stacked all six pieces on top of one another and folded the entire stack in half. This creates an album that has 24 pages in total, including the covers. So, although this album base is quite small at just under 4 inches, the abundance of pages makes up for its size.

To add a bit more flair to this project, I attached it to a giant, 4-inch gold paperclip. These can be found at any paper supply store and adds such a fun element to projects like this. To add my pages to this paperclip, I opened the stack of them and slid them through the clip and then folded them back over. To secure these in place, I stitched along the hinges using my sewing machine. A strong tape or glue would work too.

For the cover of my album, I cut two of the smaller butterfly pieces from the Layered Butterfly cut file. I again machine stitched around these pieces for texture and then layered them onto the cover.

To embellish this album, I used a mixture of products. The majority of embellishments came from the Go the Scenic Route collection such as the Floral Die CutsEphemera Die Cuts, and Cardstock Stickers. I used Chipboard Stickers to add dimension and for more detail throughout the album I used the Puffy Phrase Stickers and the Puffy Word Stickers to add sentiments.

Of course a project of mine would not be complete without some dangles! I used a bright blue charm from the Flower Charms found in the Bloom Street collection as well as one of the Charms from Go the Scenic Route for added fun. I also created some paper beads and wire wrapped those for texture.

This album is now ready for photos and happy memories! Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I'll see you next time with another fun project!
