Stitched Love Heart Layout by Paige Evans

Wednesday, February 10, 2021

Hi friends! I'm back today with a new layout created for the American Crafts blog using my new Wonders collection, Love Heart for Stitching cut file, and Confetti Hearts Punch!

I started by pulling all of the pink and red patterned papers from the 6x8 Paper Pad as well as the double-sided patterned papers. I used Paper 5Paper 7Paper 10Paper 13Paper 16Paper 18, and Paper 21. From all those papers I punched hearts with the Confetti Hearts Punch and all the paper hearts sat on my desk for a few days as I figured out the next step.
I decided I wanted to fill a heart with the paper hearts, include the word "love", and hand stitch the whole thing, so I designed a new cut file: Love Heart for Stitching cut file. I had my Silhouette Cameo cut the holes from a light pink textured cardstock.
Then I grabbed DMC embroidery thread color 602 and did a chain link stitch through the design. It took about 2 hours to stitch. After stitching, I adhered the punched paper hearts inside the stitched heart using foam squares and liquid glue to vary the depth.
I used 3 older photos of Fox - I have an empty space in one of his scrapbooks from this time period so I found some unscrapped photos from then that coordinated with the layout, printed them at 2.5 x 3", and layered them over the right side of the heart.
I embellished with lovey dovey things from the Ephemera Die Cuts6x12 Cardstock Stickers, and 8-Page Sticker Book. I wrote journaling on a pink spot with a pink pen. To finish I grabbed a suuuuper old "knock outs" heart border punch from American Crafts (seriously it's over a decade old) and punched a section from all four edges.
I hope you are inspired to pick up my new Wonders collection and Love Heart for Stitching cut file!

  1. I bought your cut file for this page and uploaded to my Design Space (Cricut) however it wants to put it on two pages no matter what size. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to print and then cut?

    1. Hi Karen! You'll need to merge all of the layers to make it the complete cut file, then it will be on one page. This is a different cut file, but I show how to do that in Cricut towards the beginning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=julgxm-tFSo
