Here is a new layout I made with Bungalow Lane and some Nesting Flower Punches!
I began by pulling all of the patterned papers from the 12x12 double-sided papers, 6x8 Paper Pad, and 2x2 Paper Pads that were pink, red, orange, yellow, brown, and kraft - all the warm tones. I ended up with about 26 different papers. Then I grabbed these Nesting Flower Punches and punched all 3 sizes of flowers from all 26 papers. I spent a bit of time creasing all of the petals to give them lifelike dimension.
Time to work on the background! I chose a piece of cream textured cardstock to help bring out the warm tones of the patterned papers. Then I hand cut a loose flower shape from scrap cardstock and placed it in the middle. I traced around the shape with a pencil. I left the template in place to protect that area from paint splatters then splashed watered down gold paint and watered down white acrylic paint all across the background. Once it dried, I removed the template, pierced holes about 1/4" apart, and did a simple backstitch with white floss.
I grabbed all of the flowers and glued them in place like a frame around the stitching, placing them in random order so no two patterns or colors were next to each other and no edges were touching. Once the glue dried I pierced a hole through the center of every flower and made a French knot to attach them in place permanently and add another touch of stitching.
I printed a 4" square photo of Jane and Joey I found in these orange tones, added it inside the stitched area, and then embellished. I tucked a piece of gold wreath Chipboard Sticker under the top edge of the photo along with a yellow butterfly and brown button Epoxy Sticker. I placed "simple things" Foam Phrase Stickers at the top as well for the title.
On the right edge of the photo I clustered a yellow tree Chipboard Sticker topped with a pink tab and "right at home" semi circle sticker both from the 8-Page Sticker Book. I finished that cluster with a pink Bird Paper Clip, kraft "happy" sticker from the 8-Page Sticker Book, and wrote the date with a brown pen on the tab sticker. To finish, I tucked a yellow label sticker under the left edge topped with a kraft "sweet" sticker and wrote journaling with the same brown pen.
I hope you are inspired in some way by this layout, whether it's the color palette, punched flower frame, hand stitching, etc! Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you again soon!
