I have a new embroidered layout to share with you today featuring Bungalow Lane!
There are so very many papers in Bungalow Lane that I want to embroider! Gotta start somewhere so I grabbed Paper 12 with the quilt pattern. I trimmed out a section to create two pieces and then spent a couple hours piercing holes by hand all around the colorful sections. I spaced the holes about 1/4" apart.
Then I grabbed the same 16 DMC thread colors that I used to cross-stitch my Bungalow Lane Coptic Book to embroider this paper:
Coincidentally, there are 16 "petals" on each row so for every row I used each thread color once. I tried to match the thread colors tone-on-tone with the patterned petal, but sometimes I couldn't do that and that's okay, I think it turned out colorful and fun and varied!
Each row of petals took about an hour to hand stitch using a basic back stitch. I stitched 12 rows of petals so all in all it took about 12 hours to embroider.
Since I spent so much time on the background, I didn't want to cover it up so when it came time to embellish I only added a few things. I printed a trio of photos to 5x12" piece and added it between the two embroidered sections of paper.
I layered sentiments that I thought went along with the photos between the bottom two pics: a copper foiled heart border from the Cardstock Stickers, "Happiness & Sunshine" banner from the Ephemera Die Cuts, "You Make Me Smile" from the Foam Phrase Stickers, followed by a strip of hand written journaling, and a "Better Together" sentiment from the Cardstock Stickers tucked underneath.
To finish I scattered Embossed Puffy Stickers all around the background for bits of eye candy and color.
I hope this layout inspires you to hand stitch on your layouts! I loooove the texture, dimension, color, and handmade touch that it adds! You can see a tutorial for creating my favorite hand stitches on my YouTube channel HERE.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Let me know if you have any questions! See you again soon!
