The featured seller last week on etsy was LouAndLee. The twin duo makes the cutest accessories and onesies for babies. Agreed?

The One when Time Went Slow

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

Can it just be midnight on Friday (or I guess technically Saturday) already? I'm going CRAZY!

As I'm wishing for time to speed up, Chris is praying for it to slow down. He takes the DAT on Friday. I'm sure he'll do GR8T. Then it's birthday on Sunday, so at least that's something for him to look forward to.

Time is a weird thing.

The One with Views from the Plane

Monday, July 28, 2008

I really really really really really really really don't like flying. It scares me. But, one good thing about flying to/from Seattle is the up-close-and-personal views of Mt. Rainier.
Look closely and you can see another airplane at the top left corner of this picture below. I guess they wanted a view, too.
Mt. Rainier is tall enough to rise above the clouds that rest on the Northwest 90% of the year.

The One with the Best Doughnuts In The World

Saturday, July 26, 2008

If you ever go here:
Make sure you go here:
And get some of these:
While you wait in line you watch your doughnuts bake. Chris, Allie and I split the assorted dozen and we scarfed them down in two minutes flat. They were delicious and still warm! My favorite ones are the cinnamon.

The One with Window Shopping

Friday, July 25, 2008

I got my camera cord in the mail yesterday! I can finally share photos of my own.

Last Thursday we took a trip to Seattle. I saw some neat things including, but not limited to, the following:

This window display is made from ties! They're pinned together in the shape of a tree. Not only did it look cool, I wanted Chris to buy every single one of them, they were that good lookin'. Wish I could remember the name of the store... Another view of the "tie tree".
A close up of the "tie tree."
This store's window display is always top-notch. Allie said they made these by blowing up balloons, covering them with decorative paper and coating it with a few layers of paper mache; then you pop the balloon, cut out a section, remove the balloon, and voila! Blow up a bunch of balloons to all different sizes, use a variety of decorative paper and you've got some totally unique decor.
We seriously spent about an hour walking around the store. There's so much to see! Every section of the store is decorated in some way I never would have thought up myself. This wall is partially covered with layers of flattened paper cups. I knew I should have saved all those sacrament cups from when I was little :)
This room is covered with torn and curling bits and pieces of vintage wall paper. So cool!
The wall next to the winding staircase is covered with original canvas paintings. The arrangement and colors look really cool against the yellow wall.
Felt is all the rage these days in the scrapbooking/handmade community. This bird is stitched together using pieces of fabric and felt then stuck to a book cover.
The back wall is crazy cool. Who would have thought to cover a wall with chalkboard, draw shelves and books and add some real books here and there? I wonder how long it will stay like that.
I could enlist Chris' help for this one: Watercolor different shades of blue, yellow and green then hand-cut into circles of all sizes. Stitch lines of circles and dangle them from somewhere.
If I knew how to sew, this is the first thing I would make for myself: I feel inspired!

The One for Jen

Thanks so much Jen for the super cute onsies!
Here's baby Avery modeling her custom outfit.

The One with Fish Pedicures

Thursday, July 24, 2008

I found this picture on Cute Overload and they found it on CNN. Click on the CNN to get to the link to the full story. "Ready for the latest in spa pampering? Prepare to dunk your tootsies in a tank of water and let tiny carp nibble away."
WEIRD!

The One with the MacBook touch?

I saw a rumor online about a MacBook touch. Sounds interesting.
Here's what "they're" saying:

"Those of you clamoring for an Apple tablet may finally get what you've been waiting for. According to a MacDailyNews source who leaked wireless iTunes a week before its official announcement, we can expect a sort of 'MacBook touch' in October. And the source wasn't light on the details, either:

Think MacBook screen, possibly a bit smaller, in glass with iPhone-like, but fuller-featured multi-touch. Gesture library. Full Mac OS X. This is why they bought P.A. Semi. Possibly with Immersion's haptic tech. Slot-loading SuperDrive. Accelerometer. GPS. Pretty expensive to produce initially, but sold at "low" price that will reduce margins. Apple wants to move these babies. And move they will. This is some sick stuff. App Store-compatible, able to run Mac apps, too. By October at the latest."

The One with the Coffee-Stirer Chandelier

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

I was looking around at chandeliers on the internet and I came across this one made of recycled coffee stir-ers!
Here is some extra info about it:

"Price:
$300.00

Spoon Lamp is made out of plastic coffee spoons which go into the garbage each day by the thousands. Studio Verissimo's Claudion Cardoso and Telma Verissimo set out to transform this excessive waste into a luxurious lamp. We think they have more than succeeded.

Materials: plastic spoons, metal

Dimensions: 22" d x 16" h

Made to order. Ships in 2-4 weeks from Portugal. Because it ships from overseas, we are not able to offer free shipping for this lamp."

If there was a coffee shop close to where I live I'd be all over those stir-ers to make one myself. But seeing as how I live in Provo UT, I have no idea where the nearest Starbucks is. If I were in Redmond, however, I'd be in stir-er heaven because there's a coffee shop LITERALLY on every corner! Malm? Dald? Allie? Find me some of these please?

:)

The One with Buttons

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Button, button, who's got the button?
I think buttons are probably my most favorite embellishment. They look great on cards, layouts, frames, bags, clothes, clocks, shoes, hats, walls, EVERYTHING! These images are from Michelle's Button Jar blog.
You can even make necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings out of them.
Buttons come in any shape, size, color and texture imaginable.
In my free time I'm sticking a bunch of them on the wall above our DVD collection. I can't wait to get my camera cord back so I can post pictures of my own!

The One with Decorative Hooks

Sunday, July 20, 2008

Who knew hooks could be so pretty? There's a part of empty wall where I'm hanging up trinkets and doodads from various trips and vacations and I think some of these would fit well into the mix. They're all from anthropologie.
