The One with the Flora Mini Album

It should be illegal how much fun I have at work :) A couple months ago we had a creative activity where we all made mini albums. I couldn't find any pictures that I wanted to scrap, but I love me some buttons and embellishments!

I started by cutting 2 pieces of 12x12 Robin's Egg blue cardstock in half so I had 4 pieces of 12x6" cardstock. Then I folded each page in half, stacked them together and hand sewed a straight stitch down the center using white embroidery floss = base of mini album.

I love AC buttons, so I stitched an assortment of them onto an assortment of felt flowers from an assortment of House collections and hot glued them to the front. That's when I decided what this mini album was going to be - a collection of flowers/trees made from AC stuff and using the same color scheme throughout. I named it Flora. I hope to make a "Fauna" book next. I hand cut a tree from brown cardstock and glued it to the right side. Then I punched a bunch of ovals from a variety of cardstock and hot glued them to the branches.
ETA: forgot to add this picture. All kinds of ribbon flowers!I hand cut concentric circles from about five pieces of patterned paper and/or cardstock for each color and layered them all together with a matching colored button stitched in the middle.
I cut some "grass" from green cardstock and adhered it along the bottom. Then I hand cut a tree trunk from brown cardstock and stuck it on the left page. Then I found a variety of white chipboard, foam and felt designs (mostly from Thickers Accents) and stuck them all around the tree. I added a large or medium colored brad to the center of most shapes. Then I made a sun on the top right corner with yellow cardstock.
I used mini scalloped scissors along the bottom edge of the top white cardstock strip, large scalloped scissors along the bottom edge of the middle white cardstock strip, and hand cut scallops along the bottom edge of the bottom cardstock strip, layered them all together and glued them to the top for clouds. Then I used a circle cutter to make various sized circles from an assortment of cardstock. Then I stitched matching colors of buttons to each circle. I glued the circles to the pages and then hand cut tree trunks from brown cardstock.
I punched leaves from a wide variety of patterned paper and layered them across the bottom for freshly fallen leaves.
I made my own Details using vinyl, felt, plastic, foam and chipboard flowers layered together and connected with a brad in the center. I finished with "the end" vinyl stickers.
