The One with the Unbelievable Black Friday

I had my alarm clock set for 4:25am this morning, but I was so excited to go shopping that I woke up even before my alarm at 4:05am. I ate a bowl of cereal, took the dog out, put on some scrubbies then woke up Chris. We headed out for the only Wal-Mart within a 15 miles radius of our apartment at 4:45am.The masses and swarms of people was indescribable. But I shall try. The parking lot of this Wal-Mart is by far the largest I've ever seen, yet every single parking spot was taken. We had to drive a few businesses down the street just to find a place to park. Then the trek to the line began. The line just to get inside Wal-Mart was literally a mile long. A MILE! Kid you not, cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye, shake my bottom if I got 'em - a mile long! CRAZY PEOPLE! I guess I was one of them though. We stood in line for about 5 minutes, moved three feet forward, then said, "Forget this, our time is worth more than the deal we'd get on $2 DVDs which will probably be sold out by the time we got in anyways." Note to self: Never go to the Rosemead Wal-Mart on Black Friday ever again unless we want to do the whole camping out thing.
We went to Target instead and found the majority of stuff that was on my wish list. Score. I love Target.
It helps that there are 10 Targets within 10 miles of our apartment. Doesn't help that there's only one Wal-Mart within 15 miles of our apartment. Where Chris' family lives in Colorado there are at least five Wal-Marts within a five mile radius. I bet the lines to get inside at the Wal-Marts in Colorado weren't a mile long...
I'm tired.

  1. I woke up at 5.40 today to get to REI because they were giving out gift certificates to the first 100 people ranging from 5-100.00. I was the first in line but 2 people stole my spot! Anyways, my gift certificate was 5 bucks. OF COURSE. My luck. But I got a sweet fuzzy jacket.... the 5 bucks didn't even cover the tax!

  2. I was up too... But not cause I was shopping, I was at work by 3pm.. Believe that! :) They decided to be open hoping to get some business and surprisingly enough, we were pretty steady up until about 6.

But girl! I am SO tired. I went to bed late because we had friends over celebrating turkey day and we were playing games until late. I get into bed, and wouldn't ya know it I cannot sleep!!! UGH. I checked the clock every hour on the hour and finally got out of bed at 2:45 only to fly into my clothes and go to work.

I heard from several peeps though it was AWFUL in every store they went too and that one couple actually witnessed two men fist fighting over a computer in Wal-Mart! Believe that.. Cause I can't!!!

So I didn't go out and shop, but I made a lot of coffee and I'm still tired! Ha.

    Hope your weekend is restful!

  3. Target always comes through! I had to WORK today. I'd rather be in a long line at Walmart than work.

  4. It was Chase's first time going with me. Last year I went with my mother-in-law. We went to Kohl's, Best Buy, and Rod Works. I can't believe how many people impulse buy.. (including my husband) Glad you got stuff you wanted. Me too. :)

  5. There is only one Target in all of eastern Idaho. We waited in line for almost two hours to buy Elf and some blocks for Miles, and we got there at 5:15 in the morning. I love Black Friday!

  6. I guess I'm stupid, because I would rather just spend the extra money and not have to wait in line. I guess I should not dog on it until I have gone and done it once huh?
