The One with the Puppy Party

Sunday, December 6, 2009

We took Joey to a puppy party at our dog trainer's house this afternoon. One important part of raising a puppy is getting him properly socialized. Our trainer wants Joey to meet over 1000 dogs within his first year of life. That's ambitious. But we're well on our way, especially after today.

Here's Joey in the car on the way there. He's getting so big, I can't believe it. It'll be fun to compare all these same car ride pictures side by side when he's all grown up.

Smooches!

This poor doggie, I believe her name is Maddie, was scared of all the puppies and was a loner.

Why do dogs do the things they do? Sniff sniff.

This girl got bombarded by the dogs. She was a good sport. Can you spot Joey?

Here's Maddie again, hiding amidst the purses. Her owner says she's a mix of lots of different breeds. I think she's cute enough to be a breed of her own. And I want one.

Joey is such a good puppy. He's definitely not a scaredy cat. I mean dog. He was right in the middle of all the action, playing and barking and getting into mischief with dogs that were at least twice his size.

Coincidentally, there was another Shiba Inu puppy (almost full grown) - it's the dark red one he's sniffing in the picture below.

Joey took a liking to his own breed and got all up in the other Shiba's business most of the time.

Dog pile on Joey!

Here's everyone else watching the puppies play.

  2. How fun is that?! Looks like you had a blast! My puppies would be like Maddie. They love people so much more than other dogs. LOL. They'd say hello to the dogs and then go sit by the people! LOL.

  3. Joey is a cute puppy! Makes me want one! My cat, though, enjoys having the house to herself!

  4. If only you lived closer. Then we could get Hurley and Joey to play. Hurley still hasn't met 1000's dogs and he'll be a year in a few weeks. Or people for that matter. It's too cold now. :( Looks like the pups all had a lot of fun! Love the pictures!

  5. That's awesome. This is one of the reasons why I'm glad we live less than 5 minutes from a massive dog park. It's definately helped Rufus with his social skills.

  6. What cool photos, but even more so a doggie party! I cannot imagine Jake taking part in any of that.. Wait yes I could, he'd try to eat every other dog there! And Kira she'd be a loner too! :)
