Today was a day I'd been waiting for a long long time: the day I got to take Fox to Disneyland! Ok, really my reasons were more selfish...I haven't been on Indie or Space Mountain or the Matterhorn or any "big kid" ride since January of 2010 - that's almost an entire year! Can't ride fun rides when you're pregnant. But I'm not pregnant anymore and I have a mom who loves Disneyland just as much as me so we went! Here's how it went down:
I didn't want to drive through traffic so we took our time getting ready in the morning. We stopped at the bank, the post office, and Veronica's to give her air mattresses back. Then we drove to Disneyland and didn't have to tap the brakes once on the way there - that's a big deal. We unloaded then made our merry way down to the trams. I finally know what's it like to be one of "those" people with a stroller and bags and bags of stuff! Here's Fox on his first tram ride:
Me and Malm on the tram:
Why thank you!
Finally I'm here with Fox outside the belly instead of in! Much better :)
Disneyland is decked for the holidays. It makes the happiest place on earth just that much happier.
Main Street
The way we had to ride big kid rides is we'd both go up to the cast members at the entrance and ask for a pass and then Malm would wait in the regular line and I'd stay outside with Fox and then she'd come out after riding and watch Fox and I'd go in through the exit and get right on. It's a good system. The very first ride we went on was Indiana Jones. Here we are just chillin'.
This was taken only moments before my mom came running back out crying... As she was making her way to the line she received a devastating email. The puppy my family was planning on getting in just a week or two died :( The entire litter caught some freak killer virus.
My family went and saw Otie in tip top shape on Saturday and next thing we know he's gone. So so so so sad. They already had a puppy bed and custom made name tag and everything. Talk about a day dampener. We tried to be happy for the rest of the day, but let's be honest, it was hard. Even at the happiest place on earth. Otie, even though I never met you I already loved you and I hope that you still get to be ours in heaven some day.
So while we were sad out of our minds, we tried to make the best of our day. And it was still a great day all things considering. After Indiana Jones we walked through New Orleans Square which looked oh so pretty.
Then we took Fox on his very first ride! The Haunted Mansion! I really want him to like scary movies :)
The Nightmare Before Christmas theme is still going on inside and out.
Fox did great in his Baby Bjorn and loved the ride. Okay, so I have no idea if he liked it or not, he was asleep, but it'll be fun to tell him about it when he's older. While he was still asleep in the Bjorn we decided to go on Pirates of the Caribbean. I was gonna have my mom take a picture of me and Fox outside the ride but one of the cast members offered to take a picture of all three of us. Yes please! This is what he took:
He's all like, "The glare is really bad, can you fix it?" I'm guessing he meant could I fix it in photoshop... Not so much. I had him take another one:
Much better :)
Fox did great on Pirates too. He's already a champ. We went on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad next doing the tradeoff.
While I was waiting I took pics of Fox in the custom Mickey hat Chris' classmates gave us for a baby gift. Too cute!
I swear every time I looked at Fox and said "Disneyland!" his face would light up. OMG soooo cute.
After Big Thunder Mountain Railroad we got some lunch next door at the Mexican place. Yummy. Fox got a little fussy then so I fed him and burped him.
We were meandering through the park and I stopped in my tracks when I saw this booth of cast members painting the prettiest name signs:
Of course I HAD to get one made for Fox:
Merry Christmas Fox!
We walked over to It's A Small World and I took some pictures of the decor and what not:
This is us in the boat about to go through.
Over at the petting zoo we saw real reindeer:
And we saw Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus:
Our ultimate goal was to stay until it got dark so we could see all the pretty lights. Mission accomplished.
Fox was a super duper great baby up until 6pm and then he'd had enough so we went home. It was still a fun day despite the tragic news and I can't wait to go back again - which might be sooner rather than later Chris - wink wink :)

ReplyDeleteThat sounds like so much fun! We took our girls last spring and they are so anxious to go back.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely day! Fox will love to hear all about it when he's older :)
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get your cute green sweater thingy your wearing? I love it!
Hey wait! Wasn't the baby-carrying-thing a Christmas present? I had it sent to your house. You're not telling me you opened it?!
ReplyDeleteYay for Disneyland! Looks like you had a great time! You know I LOVE when you post Disney photos. I'm so missing it right now. Did you see my blog? With the Disney Christmas greeting?! SO cute! You should do one too! LOL. :-p
ReplyDeleteOh! Speaking of Disney, there is this awesome "Behind the Scenes" kind of thing about the Disneyland Resort over at Netflix for instant play! Jeremy put it on for me a few weeks ago, and I was stoked! You should see it. Good watchin. :-)
And I'm SOO sad about your mom's puppy! That happened to my sister's litter of kittens (they had a virus and then their vaccinations put them over the edge). It was HORRIBLE! I'm so sorry this happened to your family. I really hope they find another wonderful puppy for Christmas. :-)
The Nightmare before Christmas looks SO cool!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are amazing! I don't remember it at all! It was decades ago that I went, with my family, for my first and only time. What a fun memory with your mom and Fox, too! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteseriously you always make me sooo jealous when you update about disneyland.
ReplyDeleteI wanna take Van back, and now Dev too!
Looks like so much fun!
I need the name thing for both of my kids too! We got one of those when we were in Hawaii...still haven't framed it or hung it up. I'm lame.
You KILL me with your Disneyland posts. It's torture, but I love reading them. I miss it so much. I love the Fox sign. What a cute memento for Fox of his first trip there.
