CHA couldn't keep me away! And this time I brought Mr. Fox along. There were a couple of booths I forgot to stop by so I figured, why not, it's so close by, might as well make an afternoon of it.
Hope no one is getting sick of seeing pics of LA... That white spec to the right of the cityscape is a blimp! I wonder what it was doing just hovering over LA Live??
Why hello LA Convention Center. We meet again.
There was hardly anybody there, which was good and bad. Good cuz there was room to breathe and walk around. Bad cuz that means the economy sucks.
Get this: I parked and got Fox all situated in his stroller and walked into the building and was about to enter the convention when the "guard" said, "No strollers allowed!" and pointed it out to me in the pamphlet. Boy was I peeved. I seriously stood there for like 30 seconds with a blank look on my face cuz I felt so dejected and watched as women with their ginormous bags on wheels strolled on in. So they can bring those honkers of things and I can't bring my small umbrella stroller? Whatever. I walked back the car (thank goodness I was parked close), put the stroller away, and then held Fox in my arms the entire 3.5 hours I was there. He was awake at the beginning and loving the sights and sounds, then he ate, pooped, and fell asleep. Good baby.
My first destination: Echo Park Paper Co. I made a few pages for them awhile ago and I know the guys who own it so I stopped by to say hi and talk about the industry and the possibility of a design team (wink wink Echo Park! :)
I could seriously be here for DAYS just taking in all the fabulous creations and decor. LOOOVE this carrousel thingy.
Cute.
I stopped by the Jenni Bowlin Studio booth and got the grand tour.
I want to make a profile silhouette of Fox and put it on a plate like this. Fun idea.
Pretty papers from Graphic 45. (I think...)
Everywhere I looked there were more dresses that I missed on Saturday! Seriously, what's the deal-e-o with all the manequins and dresses made of paper/embellishments? Very cool, don't get me wrong, I just wish I was in the loop :)
Cool new acrylic albums and what nots from Maya Road.
Flutterbies!
Sometimes you have to look straight up to see surprises! (This was over The Girls' Paperie booth).
Must make one of these:
I thought this was a creative way to showcase product and could easily be done in your own home with jewelry and doo dads.
It'd be fun to put papers up on the wall like this booth:
The itsy bitsy teeny weeny (yellow polka dot bikini! Oh wait, that has nothing to do with anything....) Making Memories booth.
EK Success has a new product called Smash. From what I gather it's a book and you just glue things in it, sort of like what a scrapbook is, but less perfect. I call this an "altered book". They're fun.
Oooooh. Ahhhhh.
Must buy this stamp set from Inkadinkado. Too cute.
Wow this is so fun.
Purdy.
Julie Comstock from Cosmo Cricket has a new product line of jewelry and accessory makings. Looks fun to me!
Tattered Angels has sooooooo many colors of mist! Collect them all!
I still want of these Cricut Cake machines. As if I need another hobby! But truly, I would get into cake making if I had one of these...
Twinkle lights at the Melissa Frances booth! Reminds me of Christmas.
There were tons of cute details at the Melissa Frances booth like the twinkle lights mentioned above, this old-school pink oven:
This darling frame:
And this collection of vintageness. I particularly love the aqua phone:
Genius idea from Epiphany Crafts. It's like they had an epiphany or something! Hardy har.
I think this is a great idea for displaying layouts. I don't know about you, but I make my layouts and stick them in an album right after I take pictures of them and hardly ever look at them again. Displaying them on the wall for a few months would be fun.
That's gotta be fun to clean up...
Pretty colorful beads!
CHA isn't just scrapbooking - it's art supplies and beads and wood things and sewing and ....crowns??
And finally, I stopped off to say hi to Kelly Marie at Lawn Fawn.
She hooked me up with a sweet banner stamp set and I hope to make some projects with it soon!
All-in-all, CHA Winter 2011 was AMAZING. Can't wait for next year! It's back in Anaheim for the Winter 2012 show, which isn't as close as LA, but still close enough!
There are so many things to comment on...let's see, well every scrapbooker deserves a crown!!! Loving the paper dresses, for no other reason than it's simply amazing what some people can do with paper! Big major, omg, cam from Jennie Bowlins booth because she has one of the Charlie Chip cans on the self ( the one in red with the little girl on it ), my dad owned several of those franchises so that made me carry the computer over to my brothers to show him too...and yes I have that can plus several others...another story...thanks for the fun tour, sorry you couldn't bring a stroller in with you!
ReplyDeleteWhile I was sitting here showing Chase and reading the part about you, fox and the stroller. He said "she should have gotten one of those roller cart thingys then put fox in it then said "hey, you said no stroller"" :) lol It was funny! Since the time I have worked at American Crafts I have wanted to go to the CHA show SO bad! I love your and they make me want to be there too! :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like so much fun - can I come with you next time?
ReplyDeleteWOW!! So many more pictures!! I think Girl's Paperie and Melissa Frances booths are my favorite...so shabby chic!
ReplyDeleteOh, my gracious! Look at all that inspiration, just waiting to unearthed! Such gorgeous pictures... every last detail!
ReplyDeleteThat's a whole lot of eyecandy! Fox is certainly a cutie pie, and seems like he was on his best behaviour. Still in love with all the dresses. Those buttterflies are SO pretty, I think I might use that for some inspiration on a page soon! If I displayed my layouts (like in those frames), I would stop liking them! I can't constantly look at them, or I find the flaws in them, I need to just scrap, photograph and put them into the album.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I just looked at your blog after I did my new post about the SMASH book! So funny. I love it!
ReplyDeleteshoot Paige I didn't know you were there! I would have told ya to swing by the booth I was at.
ReplyDeletewow Paige, that looks like lots of fun!! I'm glad Fox was so good for you! :)
