The One with Guest Designing for Shabby Chic Crafts

Veronica from Shabby Chic Crafts contacted me awhile ago and asked if I would make some things featuring her tags - heck yes, I'm always up for crafting! I don't know if I've shared pictures of what it looks like when I get my craft on now that I share my old scrap room with Fox. I take what I need from the nursery where my supplies are stored:

And put them on the table like this:

It's messy like this for a few days, then it goes back to the nursery.

MY BABY LOVE

How to: I put three heart doilies, three pictures, and three Shabby Chic Crafts tags in a grid on a Valentine-y background paper. I used pop dots under the pictures to make them, well, pop! On the center of each heart doily I added an embellishment. On the bottom left Shabby Chic Crafts tag I cut out the heart printed on it then put it back with pop dots. I wrote my journaling on white cardstock, cut it into strips, then adhered them to the top right and bottom left corners. Oh, and I punched the top corners of the background paper with a fancy corner rounder.

Journaling says: Dear Fox - I don't think there could possibly be a cuter baby in the world than you, especially in this sock monkey hat that Alisha bought for you. I'm so glad that you're all mine!

Supplies: Cardstock, patterned paper, accordion flower, layered heart embellishment, chipboard letter stickers, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Tags: Shabby Chic Crafts; Heart doilies: Target (dollar spot); Paper cutter, scissors, corner rounder: Fiskars

JUST THE TWO OF US

How to: Punch a decorative border on the bottom front edge of a kraft cardstock card. Place Shabby Chic Crafts circle tags in rows across the front: 2, 3, 2. Adhere the center circle tag with pop dots. Add felt hearts with pop dots to the circle tags on either side of the middle circle tag.

Supplies: Kraft cardstock: The Paper Company; Felt hearts, adhesive: American Crafts; Paper cutter, corner rounder: Fiskars

E&T

How to: First I placed a 12x12 piece of floral laser cut paper over a white cardstock background then sprayed it with light pink mist and let it dry. Then I punched the corners with a fancy corner rounder. I placed two little photos in the middle then surrounded them with Valentine-themed Shabby Chic Crafts tags, die cuts, journaling spots, tickets, labels, etc. I added some felt hearts here and there and stitched over them for texture. I wrote the journaling and dates and that was that!

Journaling says: It was so much fun having Eric and Tanya come stay with us for a few days. Too bad we were in the hospital with poor Fox almost their entire visit... but I was home long enough to coax them into letting me shoot faux-engagement pics! Can't wait for the wedding!

Supplies: Cardstock, floral laser cut paper, glitter foam letter stickers, felt hearts, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Tags, die cuts, journaling spots, labels, tickets: Shabby Chic Crafts; Spray mist: Tattered Angels; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark; Paper cutter, scissors, corner rounder: Fiskars

LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED

How to: Round the right corners of a kraft card. Layer a round sentiment die cut on a larger round journaling spot with foam adhesive, adhere that on an even larger round journaling spot with foam adhesive, then adhere them onto a heart doily with foam adhesive. Adhere the heart doily onto the card front. Tie pink ribbon into a bow then adhere next to the sentiment.

Supplies: Kraft cardstock, ribbon, adhesive: American Crafts; Round sentiment die cut, round journaling spots: Shabby Chic Crafts; Heart doily: Target (dollar spot); Paper cutter, scissors, corner rounder: Fiskars

BE MINE

How to: To make each flower I punched nine 2" squares from patterned papers. I folded the sides in, pressed them flat to make a cone shape, then adhered them in a circle onto a piece of scrap paper. To keep them flatter I stitched several circles around the middle. I adhered a round circle die cut with pop dots to the center of each flower. I matted my photo on white cardstock, punched the bottom edge with a scalloped border punch, then adhered it to the bottom of a kraft cardstock background. I set the paper flowers around the photo. I cut journaling spots and tags in half and adhered the halves around the edges. And finally, I wrote the journaling on the journaling tags.

Journaling says: Even before we found out we were gonna live in SoCal I always dreamed of getting our pictures taken by Amelia Lyon. Her perspective and artistic eye when it comes to photography is simply amazing. As soon as we found out we were pregnant I booked her. She came over to our apartment when Fox was a few weeks old and captured our cute little family perfectly. This is one of my favorite pictures.

Supplies: Kraft cardstock: The Paper Company; Patterned paper, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Round sentiment die cuts, journaling spots, label: Shabby Chic Crafts; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark; Scalloped border punch, paper cutter, scissors: Fiskars; Square punch: Marvy Uchida

  3. When you make a page to put in a book, do you adhere the decorative piece of paper to the white thing card stock that is usually already supplied in scrapbook albums?? Just curious on how you do that... :)

  5. WOW Paige, love all the layouts. My favorite is Be Mine. I love how all the patterned paper look together, folded and stitched in a circle/flower shape. You always seem to do really creative things with plain old paper!

  7. When I saw the first page, I said aloud: "Oh my heck, so cute." As I scrolled down to the other photos, my inflection got more and more intense: "OH my heck, so cute";"OH. MY. HECK. So cute"; "OHHHHH my heck, SO CUUUUTE."

I just dig your style, man.

  9. Hey Katie - to answer your question, no I don't adhere my paper to that white paper that comes with scrapbooks - but the albums I use by American Crafts don't even have that paper in the first place :)

  11. Hi Paige, I have been following your blog for awhile now and I love your scrap booking style! Plus I gotta say, Fox is adorable. I just have a question: your little pictures in your layouts with the white borders, are they printed from home on a photo printer or somewhere else? I really like how they look.

  12. I just thought of another question! :) Do you print your pictures out yourself on like a special printer or something? Or do you take them to Target and print them out or something along those lines?

  13. Hey Katie :) I print my pictures at Costco. I do have a printer, but it's not so great. To get the smaller pictures I get 5x7s which comes with four wallet pictures with white borders. Love 'em!
