Happy 5 month birthday to Fox!
I just did all these stats at home and plugged them into Baby Center so they might not be accurate. They seem a little off to me. But we'll find out for sure at his 6 month appointment (goodness gracious I can't believe he's going to be a half a year old next month!)
Weight: 16.6 pounds (between 25-50%)
Length: 24.5" (between 5-10%)
Head circumference: 18.25" (above 95%)
So Fox is a short'n'heavy boy with a ginormous head :)
Fox is laughing more and more and I LIVE for his giggles. We'll find something that makes him laugh like kissing him on the head, dancing for him, moving his legs to and fro, tickling his arm pits, etc., and we'll do that for ten minutes straight and then he's done. I caught a cute li'l laugh on camera!
(PS - that's not how I laugh in real life, but sometimes my fake laughing makes him laugh. Gotta do whatcha gotta do to make him laugh!).
Fox can roll over from his back to his stomach like a champ. Chris has been really good about giving Fox tummy time, even though he cried and cried and cried at first. Now he can last quite awhile on his stomach. He's rolled over from his back to his stomach a few times, but not recently. Trying to catch him roll over on camera is another story! Every time I put a camera in his face he stops what he's doing and stares at the mysterious piece of metal. But this morning I caught him in the act. He's about halfway through his roll in this video, and he's not too happy cuz I'd been bugging him to do it, but here's proof nonetheless!
Also, he's not an ambi-turner. He rolls from his left side to his back and when he (rarely) rolls from his stomach to his back it's from his left side.
Just yesterday when he was on his play mat after rolling onto his stomach he started scooting his legs like a caterpillar and actually got himself entirely off the mat! Granted it was backwards instead of forwards, but our baby is becoming mobile! We have to do some serious baby proofing soon.
Fox has the most beautiful color of eyes. I don't know if there's a real name for them but I say they're grey-blue. These are unedited, straight out of the camera so they're his genuine eye color:
I have brown eyes, Chris has hazel eyes, so we're not too sure where these grey eyes came from. Then again, the doctor said baby's eyes can change color up until they're a year old. So we'll see if they stay this color. I hope they do, they're so pretty.
Fox drools. A lot. The fronts of his shirts are always soaked so I'm trying to remember to put bibs on him.
Fox grabs anything and everything within reach and does this open-close-open-close-open-close motion with his hands. He's super strong and has almost grabbed my bowl of cereal right off the table when I'm eating breakfast on more than one occasion.
He's at the grab-and-immediately-put-in-mouth stage still. I worry so much about germs but I'm trying to not worry so much.
He likes carrots and squash and will eat his rice cereal but makes funny faces while doing so.
He sits with my help but I can let go for half a second before he topples over.
He makes a lot of ear wax. At his 4 month appointment we thought he had an ear infection but nope, just lots of wax!
When Fox is tired he puts his hands up behind his head in the position that he sleeps. It's a great indicator for nap time!
I don't even want to talk about his sleeping habits. But for the sake of recording his life I will. He goes to sleep between 6 and 7pm then wakes up at 10:30pm, 1:30am, 4:30am, and 6:30am. I try to go to sleep by 10pm and wake up with him at 6:30am, so that means I'm waking up with him 3 (THREE!!!!!) times a night still. Heaven help me I'm going crazy.
He takes about three half hour naps throughout the day and once in a while he'll take a two hour nap. Naps are good.
Fox was born with dark brown hair but most of it has fallen out except for two patches in the back and now it looks like it's growing in light brown. To be determined.
He still fits into all his 3-6 months clothes and I've even put him in 6-12 months clothes but they're a little baggy.
Airplane count: 2 (to and from Austin)
One thing is for sure, we love this little guy more than we thought was possible!
