I worked at my very first Bar Mitzvah Saturday night. Every every event I've scrapped before this has been a Bat Mitzvah or birthday or some other celebration. (Bar = boy, Bat = girl, FYI). It was pretty much the same as a bat mitzvah, but there were a lot more boys and boy-y things to do. Kid you not bar/bat mitzvahs are as big as, if not a bigger, deal than weddings. They go all out and spare no expense. Must be nice :)
As I was driving through LA I grabbed my camera to take a signature shot of downtown but when I turned the camera on it said there wasn't a storage device. I forgot it at home. Wah wah. But never fear, technology saved the day cuz most phones come with cameras nowadays! So that's what I used to snap all my photos. But who can tell?
Amy at our booth.
We prepped 40 camping/boy scout/outdoorsy-themed pages beforehand.
So all we had to do was take some Intax photos of the guests, have them write a note to the Bar Mitzvah boy, glue everything on the pages, and that was that!
Oh, and don't forget the washi tape!
Before the party started I walked around and surveyed the area.
A rock climbing wall. I'd never seen one of these at a bar/bat miztvah/party before!
Our table was right between this rock climbing wall and a brought in basketball hoop. That made for an exciting night! There were three jars of water filled with real flaming candles on our table (as seen in the photo of Amy at our booth above). You can just imagine what happened with dozens of 13 year old boys and two basketballs. Luckily not too much got damaged!
Around the side of the house is where most of the vendors were gathered.
Like fake eyelashes and glitter tattoos. Plus a photo booth with props and their specialty was printing out mini flip books - wicked fun!
Probably the coolest vendor, besides Amy Tangerine's Scrapbooking of course, was the world's fastest Etch A Sketch artist: Christoph Brown. (He's the guy wearing a red shirt two photos above).
While I was walking around taking pictures Christoph asked me to help button up his sleeves. Wacky huh?
Basically he goes around and "draws" people on a mini Etch A Sketch and somehow is able to make the image permanent. I watched him work his magic for a few minutes and he wasn't even looking at what he was doing with his hands! In fact he closed his eyes for a bit! Talk about talent! At the end of the night the kids got to take their special portraits home as a party favor.
Pretty pink tree peeking up over the fence.
The front yard. It totally looks like a wedding does it not?
Beautiful chandeliers dangling from the trees.
The backyard.
Complete with a brought in dance floor - a standard for these kinds of parties I've noticed!
Each table was beautifully arranged.
The centerpieces were live plants.
Stunning.
It was a super fun night! Love doing these!
Woah. Thats a pretty sweet party. I love the A.C. Campy Trails line. And Washi tape is a must! Oh and a rock wall in their backyard? Wish I was there!
ReplyDeleteWOW! That looks like so much fun! That's totally way bigger than your wedding open house!
