I'm loving mist these days! And patterned paper. And my typewriter. And lots of other things. Here are my two monthly layouts for American Crafts:
BABY 'GREYS'
Journaling: You know how babies are born with cloudy blue eyes and they're called Baby Blues? Well, Fox's eyes have turned the most beautiful shade of grey so he has 'Baby Greys! Here's to hoping they stay this color!
Tips: The TV wasn't on while I scrapped these. Shocker, I know! I started by dropping blue, green, orange, and red spray mist onto a grey grid background. Then I glued my photos down. Next I cut triangles out of lots of different patterned papers and adhered them around the page. I added a Thickers title framed with aqua brackets. I wrote the journaling on three of the more plain triangles and traced those triangles with the same black pen. I drew faux stitching on a few other triangles. I tied green baker's twine in a bow around the top. Tip: Cut really short slits in the sides of the layout for the twine to slide into so it doesn't slip down the layout. Finally, I sewed a border around the edges using brown thread to keep everything "contained".
Supplies: Cardstock, stickers (brackets, letters), pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Patterned paper: Scenic Route Paper Co. (cream lined, graph), American Crafts (all others); Baker's twine: The Twinery; Spray mist: Tattered Angels; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark; Paper cutter, scissors: Fiskars
LITTLE MANIPULATOR
Journaling: Sometimes you can be such a little manipulator. You'll start crying and then we'll smile at you or flash you a toy and immediately you'll start laughing and smiling. Don't you know we know you by now? There's no fooling us Mr. Man. We love you so much even though you're sneaky.
Tips: This layout was a process! First, I die cut a dozen or so stars using the silhouette feature on my Cricut, then I layered them across a cream polka dot background and sprayed the layout with green shimmer mist. I took off the star silhouettes and had a funky background! I stitched inside three of the larger stars to add texture. Next, I trimmed six mini photos into pennants and matted them on patterned paper. I adhered the photos across my layout and sewed a straight line across the tops to complete the banner look. I punched several circles, squares, and pinked circles from patterned paper, folded them in half, and set them in a curve between the photo banners, sewed across them as well, and added a Thickers title. I tied a small piece of brown baker's twine in a bow and put it above the "I" in "LITTLE" at the top. Then I used my "new" vintage typewriter to make the journaling. I messed up tons, but that's life. I cut up the journaling into strips, adhered the pieces across the layouts, and finished up by adding accordion paper flowers and a bow and a dash of fabric brads. Ta-da!

Dang. Those layouts are cute. Sprays are HOT right now in the scrapbooking world... or at least Ben Franklin. Do you use smooch spray? That's what I've been using and sometimes it gets clogged.
