The One with the South Pasadena Farmers' Market

Thursday, June 2, 2011

We've lived here for approximately 96 weeks. That means that we have missed 96 South Pasadena Farmers' Markets! How have I been so sheltered?! Have I been living under a box?! I have been missing out on a WONDERFUL thing!

Today I remembered it was Thursday and therefore the weekly Farmers' Market was taking place so I took myself and my boy a couple blocks up the street to see what there was to see. And take pictures to document our experience of course :)

At the very first booth I saw these lovely bright pink flowers and I asked to take a picture and the guy was like, ummm...sure.... so then I felt awkward taking pictures the rest of the time cuz maybe people don't want you taking pictures of their stuff? So I had to be all stealth with my photos. But anywho, here is the lovely flower:

We passed lots of veggie and flower stands.

We happened across some raspberries. My fave.

Then we got to the good stuff: FOOD! And boy was there food! There was bread!

And crepes!

And cookies (which I begrudgingly passed on by because I've been off sweets for 48 hours and counting!)
Photobucket
And chicken/potatoes!

And BBQ!

There was also corn on the cob with a bunch of different flavors, decked out potatoes, Indian food, and more that I've already forgotten. I decided to go with a panini cuz you can't go wrong with a panini! (Let's just say panini a couple more times for the heck of it cuz it's a fun word - panini panini panini!)

I got me a margarita panini. Don't they look delicious? (This was just the display but mine was a carbon copy of these.)

I ate my dinner in front of a beautiful nursery and wished for a minute or two that I had a green thumb.

Pretty sure we're going to be making a weekly appearance at the weekly South Pasadena Farmers' Market just to try out all the different kinds of food! Who's with me?

  1. Dude - I went for the FIRST time ever today - how did we not run into each other?! How did we not go together?! My mother in law and me went - I haven't been here as long but it was awesome! We have to go back EVERY week for some groceries and definitely to try ALL the food vendors! Hahahaha I kept hoping I'd run into some South Pas people but I didn't see any! Heheheheeeeeee

  3. It's funny... I wonder if that guy was all weirded out, thinking, "Uhhh... some random girl wants to take a photo of my flowers?" LOL. I think people out of "our world," find taking photos of everyday things... strange. But we're not strange. We're awesome. Just sayin. ;-)

And how fun! We've lived here a while too and have never been to the Farmer's Market. Okay, we went to ONE in Austin one time. But that is much too far away. The Cedar Park one is only 10 minutes. Yeah, we should get there. Maybe in a few weeks... ;-)

Can't wait to see what you bring home from there! ;-)

  4. Fun! Gerrit and I go to farmer's markets for the food all the time. I'm not sure if we've ever actually bought plants or produce...

  5. I love farmer's markets...especially all the free samples. I know, I'm cheap! They have one every Wed. here in LB and a huge one in Huntington Beach next to the pier. Talking to the vendors is so much fun.
