I've got all things baby girl on the brain! I've started a "to make for Jane" folder on my desktop which is quickly filling up with wonderful ideas. Here's to hoping I can find the time to make all of said projects before she makes her debut!
ONESIES!
I know I've blogged about these onesies before, but now's the perfect time talk about them again. Once upon a time the etsy shop of Lou and Lee was filled to the brim with these uber cute onesies. I can only hope they open up again soon so I can get one!
I'd like to try my hand at making some myself. First step: find some solid colored onesies. Does anyone know anywhere to buy solid colored onesies that don't cost an arm and a leg??
Another onesie variation:

HAIRBANDS!
Chris has put a ban on Jane wearing headbands, and I'll be honest that I'm reluctant too. I want people to notice my baby girl first, not the ginormous flower taking over her head :) But I think if you look long and hard enough you can find the diamond headband in the rough.
Pretty sure I can make most of these, just need to make a trip down to the fabric district.
QUILTS!
I've commissioned my mom to make Jane a quilt like this one my friend Whitney made:
I'd love to try out this monthly photo on a beautiful piece of fabric or quilt from Young House Love:
Speaking of commissioning people, my friend Diane can sew the most amazing things - quilts, bibs, shoes, you name it! She posted about these shoes she made last week and I gently asked (or perhaps begged) her to make me a pair.
Totally adorable! I wish I knew how to sew and crochet! I'd do this to a pair of sandals in a snap!
Every girl needs a strand of pearls. Even tiny babies :)
And last but certainly not least, and not exactly "to make" but definitely "to do" - give Jane bangs ASAP!
Time to step away from the computer and put some of these ideas into action!

I love those shoes and that bracelet! And here's some inspiration for dainty little headbands that give the perfect feminine touch without dwarfing your baby: http://whippycake.com/shop/cookie-crumb/. I love the teeny tiny bows!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Chris. Most of those baby headbands are obnoxious -- no ginormous flowers for baby Jane -- she's much too classy for that!
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING all of these pictures! The last one of that little girl is so darn cute. Bangs=so cute! I wish I could whip out a bunch of darling onsies and bows like that..and even more i wish I could buy them from that shop! your baby girl is going to be so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI subscribe to many sewing blogs on my Reader and I've noticed that the colored onesies are dyed at home. I'm sure you can buy them somewhere, but it seems most crafters dye them themselves. Cute post!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Paula...I'd buy the white ones and dye them at home. I've been looking at a lot of onesies recently and usually the only way to get a plain one is in a pack with other printed ones.
ReplyDeletehaving a girl is dangerous on the wallet, but OH SO fun!!! I would suggest dying onesies. I looked for plain colored onesies everywhere, but ended up dying because it was cheaper. However, Ben Jenkins might have connections to some. I think I talked to him about it once. Just go on RIT's website and read the directions there carefully. I had many trial and errors with it until I read the directions on the site. And if you want a dark brown or dark color of any color double the dye.
ReplyDeletei want to go to the fabric district when you go! i need to go and load up before we move outa here! and sooo cute i want a girl toooo!!!!!!! i LOVEEEE those onesies - especially the ones with the sillouhette charm pieces on them.
ReplyDeleteall these ideas are sooo cute!! my daughter is now twelve and I am always trying to get big flowers into her hair because they didn't have those years ago...love that quilt, so colorful and fun, good luck with your ideas :)
