The One with Jane's Room!

Saturday, June 30, 2012

Jane's half of the nursery is finally done! The hand sanitizer dispenser was the last item to be placed, thereby completing the room. It's all about the finishing touches people :) So, without further rambling or adieu, here is Baby Jane's room!
Photobucket
I've been hoarding frames, mirrors, canvases, wooden plaques, and more for a few months with plans to alter and place them on the wall. Mission accomplished!
Photobucket
The butterfly chandelier mobile I made sits prominently above her crib.

I love the Jenny Lind crib we got from Amazon. It's perfect! Mattress and ruffled crib skirt: Pottery Barn Kids. Yellow gingham bumper and mattress sheet: Amazon. Quilt: Grandma Carolyn :)
Photobucket
For now Jane's baby quilt rests over the side. This will be the blanket that we use to cover her car seat when we go on outings.
Photobucket
Custom made Boppy cover and pillow which are accents right now, they won't be in the crib once she's here.
Photobucket
THE dresser :) Found on Craigslist.
Photobucket
A birdcage filled with pom poms my little sister made.
Photobucket
The central piece of the frame wall is from IKEA. I spray painted it raspberry pink and then hot glued ribbons across the back of it to accomodate hair clips.
Photobucket
I made this owl canvas for a step-by-step photo tutorial for a project in Simply Handmade magazine a few years ago. I actually repainted the canvas a softer shade of yellow before hanging it up.
Photobucket
I glued a piece of pink baker's twine into "love" on this canvas. Easy peasy!
Photobucket
I spray painted this wooden oval plaque aqua, placed a girl silhouette template on top, painted over it gold, removed the template, and then added pearls to the neckline.
Photobucket
These mini square canvases were painted and then on the green one I mod podged a doily on top and the other one I painted over a doily template.
Photobucket
I got this cute business card from Dawn when she sent me a package of baby girl clothes. THANK YOU!
Photobucket
More altered frames. I spray painted the light pink one, stitched some felt hearts to a piece of mint green cardstock, and that was that. The white frame has a piece of fabric inside. And the aqua frame holds a piece of yellow chevron paper that I made in Adobe Illustrator and printed out on photo paper.
Photobucket
Ta da!
Photobucket
On the west wall is Fox and Jane's baby stats in frames along with wooden letters. Jane's are made up for now and I'll replace it once she's born.
Photobucket
Close up of the pom poms.
Photobucket
Jane's clothes and shoes. I can't wait to have a little girl to dress up!
Photobucket
Never in a million billion trillion quadrillion years did I think that our guest room/my scraproom would turn into a nursery with TWO cribs before we left California.
Photobucket
My how life can change in a matter of three years!
Photobucket
Okay Baby Jane, you can be born any day now, I'm ready for you!

The One with Baby Jane's Shower

Thursday, June 28, 2012

My dear, sweet friends threw Baby Jane a shower last night. I got this sparkly sweater from H&M in Washington in April and finally had a good excuse to wear it! No, it's not maternity, but whatevs, it kinda sorta fits :)
Ahhhhh, I love the decorations and the set up! It's perfect!
Erica dipped these doilies in food coloring and dangled them on the wall and from the ceiling.
Cheryl made these delicious cupcakes.
Lindsay made the cookies and Veronica brought the fruit to make fruit pizzas - they were so good!
Jenny supplied the dishes and tablewear and made the take-home treat for guests which are in a different pic. It all came together perfectly! I could have cried :)
Edible pearls!

The fruit cancels out all the sugar right?!?
Gal pals.
Jane is going to be the best dressed baby girl ever :)
I carried my loot down to the parking lot in the Bybee's awesome grocery cart.
I took more than my fair share of Jenny's pretzel rods - my fave!
Photobucket
Thanks so much girls for coming! I had a lovely evening.
Yesterday was the 27th of June, my due date is July 27th, so just one month to go! Although I won't complain one bit if she decides to come today!

The One with June 2012 American Crafts Layouts

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

I sat down to scrap and Fox was being such a good boy playing with his toys (that NEVER happens!) that I was able to get a record four pages done in a day!
27

Journaling says: Every year keeps getting better and better! I love my life and my family and my jobs and my pets :)

How to: Trace a plate onto cardstock then use an Xacto knife to cut it into triangle wedges. Cover each wedge with strips of patterned paper. Adhere the wedges back into a circle on a pink cardstock layout base, removing one of the wedges so there can be a little gap between each piece. Drop dark blue spray mist across the top right and bottom left corners then embellish with butterflies punched from dark blue patterned paper, jewels, and pearls. Adhere a photo to the middle and frame the left and right edges with scalloped borders punched from white cardstock. Create a layered embellishment from a round die cut, pinwheel, number stickers, and a baker's twine bow. Write journaling a journaling spot, place the year using number stickers on a label sticker, and group them all on the bottom right side.

Supplies: Cardstock, patterned paper, stickers (journaling spot, label, numbers, pinwheel), round die cut, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Baker's twine: The Twinery; Pearls, jewels: K & Company; Spray mist: Studio Calico; Punches: American Crafts (scalloped border), Martha Stewart Crafts (butterflies); Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark

DJ FOX

Journaling says: We put Chris' massive headphones on Fox to see what he'd do and he LOVED them! He walked around like he was so cool so we call him DJ Fox.

How to: Die cut three large stars from a white cardstock background. Trace the cut out stars onto scrap cardstock and cut them out slightly larger. Cover each scrap star with wedges of patterned paper then adhere them behind the layout. Sew around each star to secure them in place. Layer a large and small photo (the same one) on the bottom right corner. Die cut stars from kraft cardstock, stitch around some of them, and adhere one on each patterned paper star, create the title on another, write journaling on one, and stamp the date on another. Adhere the kraft stars on the layout as shown. Top the kraft stars on the patterned paper stars with a large button. Drop brown spray mist on the corners then embellish the mist with star confetti punched from white cardstock.

Supplies: Cardstock, patterned paper, letter stickers, date stamp, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Buttons: Crate Paper; Star confetti punch: Martha Stewart Crafts; Spray mist: Studio Calico; Ink: StazOn; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark; Die cut machine (Cameo), software (Silhouette): QuicKutz

 SANTA BABY

Journaling says: I thought there was going to be a super long line to see Santa so we go there super early. Turns out we were the only ones. Fox climbed right up onto Santa's lap, they snapped this one pictures, and that was that!

How to: Cut 36 triangles from different pieces of green patterned paper and cardstock then adhere them in a Christmas tree shape on a vintage sheet music paper background. Add a brown woodgrain paper tree trunk and embellish the tree with brads of all varieties, buttons, pearls, and jewels as shown. Place a photo on the right side and create a title at the top. Die cut three snowflakes from kraft cardstock, adhere them on the layout, then outline them with silver glitter glue. Once the glitter glue is dry, journal around two of the snowflakes and top them with chipboard snowflakes.

Supplies: Cardstock, glitter paper, patterned paper, brads (fabric, glitter, holly, jewel, pearl), buttons, chipboard (elf, letters, snowflakes), letter stickers, number rub ons, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Jewels, pearls: K & Company; Glitter glue: Ranger; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark; Die cut machine (Cameo), software (Silhouette): QuicKutz

I LOVE SEATTLE

Journaling says: Whenever I go home we always have to take a trip into Seattle to eat at Mae Phim, wander around Pike Place, and shop at Pacific Place. I feel like such a tourist in my own city!

How to: Die cut a Seattle skyline from cardstock, place it at the bottom of a ledger paper background, spray over it with aqua mist, remove the template, then stitch around the skyline using yellow floss. Adhere lots of little photos across the top half of the layout then embellish around them with lots of stickers. Create a title and write journaling on the bottom.

Supplies: Patterned paper, fabric brad, stickers (arrows, borders, circles, cloud, flowers, letters, sentiments), date stamp, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Floss: DMC; Spray mist: Studio Calico; Ink: StazOn; Die cut machine (Cameo), software (Silhouette): QuicKutz
Until next month, or maybe sooner if I get the mojo!

The One with Eric's 24th Birthday

What are little brothers for if not to dress them up in pretty costumes, share embarrassing photos, and otherwise humiliate publicly :)

And of course, my most favorite video of Eric of all time which I swear I post every year.

It's funny how many of the things Eric mentions have now come true.

In all seriousness though, Eric is the goofiest, funniest, most random guy on the face of the planet and he is lucky enough to have an eternal companion who can put up with his silly ways.
Photobucket
I'm so proud of him - he just graduated from BYU and moved back to Redmond, Washington of all places so he can start a super great job at Microsoft. I may be a little jealous :)

Happy birthday Eric - ya done good!
