We kept things simple this year and stayed at home. At one point we were tempted to drive up to Las Vegas (or, if you want to get technical, Henderson) to visit my sister at her boyfriend's house (we've still never met the guy and they're talking wedding plans!) - but traffic getting to/from Vegas would be a nightmare, we didn't have arrangements for the pets, and I didn't want to rain on Allie's Cloud 9 parade. It's all good though - Chris was excited to cook his very first turkey and called his dad to get his special instructions. Turns out the instructions are to follow the directions on the packaging. Well what-do-ya-know! Our day started out before the sun rose - Fox was up and at'em at 5:30am! When Fox wakes up, Jane wakes up, so Chris cuddled them on the couch until they were really ready to wake up.
While the turkey was roasting we took advantage of the beautiful weather and went on a walk. I'm so grateful for the mild So-Cal winters.
It kinda, sorta, maybe feels like fall(ish) with some leaves on the ground! We're even wearing long-sleeved shirts at night :) I'm grateful for space heaters that keep us warm.
Fox is such a stud-muffin. I'm so grateful for him and all the joy he brings to my life.
Today during the kids' naps and pretty much whenever Chris is home I've been scrapbooking because I'm caught up with all my work! That rarely happens so I've got to take advantage while I can. I'm made SEVEN layouts in the past few days! I'll share some soon :) I'm grateful for the art known as scrapbooking and all of the wonderful opportunities that have come my way because of it.
Chris wanted us all to dress in our Sunday best for dinner but the only one who actually accomplished this feat was Jane. I'm grateful for Jane and everything about her.
My sweet angel!
At long last (I swear turkeys take 10 hours to cook) Thanksgiving was ready! The bird was cooked to perfection! I'm thankful for ovens and pretty much food in general - it's yummy.

Fox kept asking for more - which is a good sign! (Note - he still must ALWAYS have a toy in his hand. No surprise that it's Buzz!)
A feast fit for a king! Soooo good! And how much did I contribute? Nada. Not a single thing. I am so incredibly thankful for a husband who cooks. I cleaned it all up :)
Happy Thanksgiving 2012!
Happy Thanksgiving, Paige;)

Looks delicious!!! Jealous.
ReplyDeleteTruth be told, ours was disappointing (Jeremy's dad's cousin's house...), so I'd like to do our own REAL Thanksgiving dinner sometime this week. LOL. Is that weird? LOL. I didn't get my mashed potatoes and gravy! :-(
She is BEAUTIFUL! And so jealous of all the scrappy time:) One say soon!
