The One with Jane at 7 Months

Jane is 7 months new today!

Length: 27" (75-90%)

Weight: 17 pounds 5.8 ounces (50-75%)

Head circumference: 17.25" (75%)

For comparison's sake:

Jane is getting so big! It was such a sad day when I had to pack away all her 3-6 month clothes. Boxes of clothes means she really is growing up.

She's so big in fact, that once she runs out of diapers, we need to get her size 4 - that's the same size Fox is wearing! How is that possible? A 7 month old and 2.5 year old wearing the same size diapers? Must be because all of her yummy fat rolls.

This girl SNORTS when she laughs! Oh my goodness every time it happens (which is, like, all.the.time.) my heart goes aflutter from the cuteness overload.

Her default "smile" is to open her mouth as wide as she possibly can. So we see this face a lot.

On the Fox and Jane front, Fox kind of sort of plays with her once in awhile. He does NOT like it when she takes toys from him though. Pretty soon I'll start getting her more girly toys (dolls, tiaras, crowns, all that jazz) and maybe that'll help separate his and hers. Fox will give Jane hugs and kisses on my demand though, which is simply precious.

Jane LOVES looking at herself in the mirror. I'd love looking at myself too if I were this cute!

As far as physical development, she sits up for about 10 minutes at a time but still falls over so I put the boppy or pillows around her to catch her fall. She only rolls from front to back and hasn't mastered back to front yet. But, I'm not worried like I was with Fox doing all these things. I know that when she's ready she'll do it and as long as she's still growing and happy, I'm happy!

She's been eating rice cereal every night since she was 4 months old. I tried introducing vegetables into her diet a month or so ago, but she wasn't having it. But a few days ago I tried again and now she seems to like anything I feed her. And we're increasing solids to about 2 times a day - not that it helps her sleep any better...

JAAAAAAAAANE - PLEASE START SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!
Oh my goodness. I'm kind of going insane. I haven't slept more than 4 hours at a time (and that's rare, it's usually a 2 or 3 hour block) in 7 months. One night she slept from 11pm-5am, but it was just a fluke and hasn't happened again since. How can I be mad when I have this to wake up to though?

Her daily routine at 7 months is as follows, it's pretty much verbatim from 6 months:

5:30am - wake up and eat

8:30am - nap

9:00am - play! (and yes, that's only a half hour nap...)
12pm - lunch of some pureed veggie or fruit of sorts

1pm - nap (and she HAS to be sleeping in someone's arms or she doesn't sleep - grrrr)

4pm - play
5pm - dinner of rice cereal with veggies or fruit mixed in

6:30pm - bedtime routine: bath, fall asleep in my arms nursing

7:00pm - asleep for the night in her crib

10-11:30pm - she wakes up so I nurse her back to sleep

1-2:30am - she wakes up so I nurse her back to sleep

5:30am - repeat

I emailed Jane's doctor and asked what I can do to get her to sleep longer at night and she suggested letting her cry it out. That's what we did with Fox at 6 months and it worked like a charm. I think tonight is the night because seriously, I'm sleep deprived. Okay, enough witching and moaning because at the end of the day, I've got this sweet little angel who brings me so much joy!

Still no teeth. Still has blue eyes. Her hair is growing in the same color brown as both of our families!

Got my two monthly American Crafts layouts made! Done and done.

1ST POOL DIP

Journaling says: Jane's first time in a pool was at Indio with the Bybees and lots of other friends. She seemed pretty indifferent to the whole experience. We'll keep trying!

How to: Punch 1" circles from patterned paper, patterned vellum, gold glitter paper, and gold foil paper then trim each circle into quarters. Adhere the quarter circles in a quilt-inspired background down the left side and across the top of a light pink cardstock background. Add buttons, an acrylic flower, and chipboard heart on the circles for embellishments. Place a crocheted doily on the bottom right corner, spray over it with white mist, then remove the doily. Layer a photo, title stickers, and embellishments over the misted doily. Tuck white and gold doilies under the edges as well as a tag with journaling written on it. Stamp little arrows, sentiments, and the date around the photos.

Supplies: Cardstock, patterned paper, patterned vellum, glitter paper, gold foil paper, album page, acrylic flower, chipboard (anchor, arrows, heart, letters, star), tag, stickers (flowers, star), rub ons (arrow, heart, star), stamps (arrow, date, heart border, sentiments), pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Buttons: American Crafts, Crate Paper; Doilies: Michaels (crocheted), Wilton (gold, white); Sequins: Craft supply; Pearls: Recollections; Pens: American Crafts (black), Sharpie (gold); Ink: StazOn; Spray mist: Studio Calico; Corner rounder, circle punch: Fiskars

Journaling says: Once you got your hair cut you instantly turned into a grown up boy! Where did baby Fox go? You're huge and so handsome!

How to: Trim patterned papers, corrugated cardboard, and album pages into 3/4" strips then trim them into arrows; adhere the arrows diagonally across the right half of a mint green cardstock background. Add puffy arrow stickers, a vellum arrow sticker, stamped arrows in brown and aqua, and stitching over the paper strips. Layer photos and title stickers on the left edge and write journaling above and below the photos. Drop aqua spray mist across the page.

Supplies: Cardstock, corrugated cardstock, patterned paper, album pages, stickers (arrows, dog, journaling spot, letters, numbers, starburst), metal tag, wooden veneer card, stamps (arrows, date), pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Ink: American Crafts (aqua), StazOn (brown); Spray mist: Studio Calico; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark

When Shimelle asked me to make a layout based on a sketch (see the sketch HERE), I jumped at the chance!

THIS IS ME

Journaling says: The best part about going home (aside from all the help from Grandma) is getting to raid my sister's closet and wear her clothes for a few days. It's such a nice change of pace from my boring wardrobe. And then she takes good photos!

Note: I made this layout while I was at home in Washington state for Christmas. I didn't have my scrapbooking supplies with me, but luckily my sister is also an avid scrapper so we rummaged through her stash and found some super fun things to work with! The sketch that Shimelle designed that this layout is based on was such a great start. I liked the two diagonal lines and decided to keep going with that idea and make diagonal lines of patterned paper across the entire layout. I mostly used the On Trend collection by Crate Paper, with som gold accents thrown into the mix. The placement of the photo, title, three embellishment clusters, and journaling are right where they are in the sketch - sketches make things so easy peasy!

How to: Trim 1/4" strips of patterned paper and adhere them diagonally across a gray woodgrain paper background. Straight stitch through each paper strip. Create a photo mat from layered blocks and piece of patterned paper and cardstock and add the photo on top with foam squares. Create three embellishment clusters on the top, left, and right sides to form a visual triangle. Use die cuts, stickers, a wooden veneer circle, stickpin, brads, jewels, and more; the more the merrier! Create a title on the right side of the photo on top of a gold doily.

The One with the San Diego Zoo

Picking up from yesterday - or rather, last week - when we went to San Diego. Tuesday night Fox took a bath and since we didn't bring his towel he got to wear a mini towel, hehe. What a stud muffin.

Wednesday morning we woke up and did our usual morning routine - breakfast of Frosted Mini Spooners.

What's a morning without a little photoshoot?

We caught a glimpse of downtown San Diego on our way into the zoo.

We made it!

We knew it was going to be a fun day.

Right at the entrance are the pinkest flamingos I've ever laid eyes on.

First stop was the reptile house. Fox checkin' out an alligator (or, as he calls them, "Agalitor").

Then we headed over to the children's area complete with playground and petting zoo.

We came all the way to the zoo to see a pony!

Inside the Insect House we saw tons of disgusting creatures. Chris's worst nightmare - a hive of bees! These leaf cutter ants found some pretty colored leaves.

It was like a tropical jungle - so pretty!

Macaw!

LOOK! A HOMOSAPIEN! Coolest exhibit ever :)

Walking through the Lost Forest, Scripps Aviary, and Monkey Trail was super impressive. There were three different levels for viewing the animals.

All over the place was propaganda about how our world is going to pot. Chris loved it.

We stopped for lunch and then headed over to the east side of the zoo to see the big ticket animals like lions and tigers and bears oh my!

Giraffes are ginormous.

Fox LOVES elephants.

King of the mountain syndrome.

Scenery.

More scenery.

I spy two polar bears - one polar bear above water, another polar bear doing the backstroke under water.

Over by the polar bears there was a helicopter (or as Fox calls it, "hecoliter) for kids to play in. Fox was in heaven.

Oh what we wouldn't give to ride the Skyfari back to the exit! The only problem was we couldn't take our hefty strollers, so we made the long walk back - at least it was cool-weathered and the scenery was divine.
