The One with the Garden Girl Milestones-Themed Layout

Saturday, June 1, 2013

The start of a new month brings new projects from the Garden Girls! This month the theme was "milestones" so I decided to use a bunch of outtakes from Jane's first passport photoshoot. Getting your first passport is a big milestone!

JANE'S 1ST PASSPORT PHOTO OUTTAKES

Description: The new Mint Julep line by BasicGrey is so lovely! I love the vintage floral designs and gorgeous color palette. The mint green outfit my daughter Jane is wearing in these photos matched perfectly with the mint green in the line. Banners are still one of my favorite trends and they're also a great way to feature patterned papers. I couldn't pick just a few papers from this line - I had to use them ALL - so banners were the best way to accomplish that. With a couple circles punches in hand and by cutting the pieces in half, all that was left to do was sew them in curved rows across a layout. Fast, easy, beautiful! Mint Julep also comes with a variety of matching embellishments - the perfect finishing touch! A floral fabric brad, a butterfly fabric tab, and a few stickers complete this layout in no time.

Journaling says: For our upcoming move to Germany we had to get passports for the kids. Here's Jane hamming it up!

How to: Punch large scalloped circles and small regular circles from each patterned paper from the Minty Julep line by BasicGrey. Cut each circle in half then arrange them in banners across a blue cardstock background. Sew across the top of each banner using white thread. Embellish the banners here and there with stickers, a floral fabric brad, and a label sticker with the date written on it with a brown pen. Drop white and dark blue spray mist across the layout. Round the bottom corners of four photos and adhere them in a banner with a map sticker between across the bottom of the layout; sew across the top edges. Make a title with blue chipboard letter stickers above the photos.

Supplies: Cardstock, adhesive: American Crafts; Patterned paper, fabric brad, stickers (flowers, label, map, mini alphabet, photo corners, scalloped border, sentiments), fabric tab, chipboard letters: BasicGrey; Punches: Firskars (circle, corner rounder), Marvy Uchida (scalloped circle); Spray mist: Studio Calico; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark; Pens: American Crafts (brown), Uni-Ball Signo (white)

The next Garden Girl debut is July 1st - be there or be square!
