I'm going to write and post these as if they weren't a week late, FYI.
On Wednesday morning, July 3rd 2013, we drove to a park and ride next to SeaTac, took a shuttle to the airport, got some McDonalds for breakfast (we ordered two McGriddles and got two McMuffins but we were out of time to go back and switch), played in the play area for a bit, boarded the plane, and flew to Salt Lake City. Jay and Pops were there in two cars so that we could take over Jay's car for the duration of our visit - a welcome blessing or we would have had to rent a car. Thanks Jay!
First thing's first, I dropped off my wedding ring at my aunt's jeweler to get cleaned. It looks brand spankin' new now! Thanks Aunt Katy! Next we got some drive-thru Taco Bell for lunch. Then we headed over to Haylie's house to go swimming in the community pool. These are the only pics I took from the day - I've really been slacking lately in the picture-taking department. But I'll get back on track, I promise!
Jane's hair after getting lotioned up and taking a dip in the pool!
After cleaning up from the pool we went to the Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner. Always a good time! Pretty much everyone gets the exact same thing: the Manager's Special with Meat Sauce and Mizithra Cheese.
Post dinner everyone went to a rodeo out in Oakley - everyone except me, Fox, and Jane. They were a wreck and needed to go to bed. We stayed at Aunt Katy and Uncle Steve's house. Thanks AGAIN Aunt Katy :)
On Thursday, July 4th 2013, Independence Day, it was our turn to get a meal for everyone so we picked up six Little Caesars pizzas. We hoped that would be enough! Four pizzas leftover and we were suspicious that people ate before they gathered at Haylie's... More for me I guess!
While we waited for everyone to arrive, Jay kept Fox wildly entertained by throwing him onto the lovesac over and over and over.
After lunch we headed up into the canyon to go on a hike.
Yes I wore a dress and gold boat shoes. I didn't know we were going hiking and didn't pack appropriately. Luckily the hike wasn't strenuous at all and I'm actually glad for the breeze and airflow the dress provided.
Stopping to take pictures on the bridge.
Playing in the river. Everyone you can see in the picture is part of the Evans family.
Poor Bethany spent the night throwing up so she and baby Ethan stayed back for the day. Evelynd came along though and she looked so happy and carefree picking these wildflowers.
Chris & patriotic Jane | Haylie and Fox. She was so sweet with him the entire hike, holding his hand and cheering him along and swinging him up and over rocks.
We made it to Donut Falls! Of course we ate donuts whilst basking in the spray from the waterfall.
Fox and Jay.
Holidays and hot days always bring lots of people to waterfalls.
Back at Haylie's house she and Jay cooked hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner then we headed out to see a baseball game at the Spring Mobile Ballpark - what could be more American than a baseball game on the 4th of July followed by celebratory fireworks? Not much!
Did we make it to the fireworks? Absolutely not, haha. We left at about 8:30 and the kids were in bed by 9. Then Chris and I went out on Katy and Steve's deck to watch fireworks. They live up behind the capitol building and literally everywhere you looked you could see some sort of fireworks. It was one of my top 5 favorite 4th of July fireworks viewpoints.
So far so fun!
What a sweet time. I'm exhausted just reading that! Fox getting thrown is too precious!
ReplyDeletelooks like a WONDERFUL time!
ReplyDeleteOmg, those pictures of Jane's hair after swimming are too cute!
ReplyDeleteHa, I love that you wore a dress hiking--at least you looked good for the pictures, right??
