The One with the Garden Girl Summer-Themed Layout

Monday, July 1, 2013

The first of the month means new projects from the Garden Girls!
The theme is SUMMER so naturally I wanted to use beach pictures and the new beach-themed line from Crate Paper called The Pier and the newest out-doorsy-themed line from Pebbles called Lakeside.
EL PORTO BEACH

Description: Nothing says summer like the beach! And lucky for me Crate Paper has a brand new beach-themed line called The Pier. There are soft colors to go with the relaxing feel of the waves of the beach as well as bright pops of color to go with fun toys and beach balls that one might find at the beach. Here's what the Crate Paper Blog has to say about The Pier: "It's full of adorable summer icons including popsicles, beach and pool must-haves, carousels, ice cream cones and balloons. Not only are the colors yummy, but the collection is full of adorable kraft paper and gold accents to make the summer palette pop!" The Lakeside collection by Pebbles goes hand-in-hand with The Pier because it's outdoorsy and the colors coordinate perfectly!

Journaling says: We spent our last Saturday in Southern California at the beach which is funny because Chris doesn't like the beach but his parents were in town and made him go. I'll miss this!

How to: Punch 1" squares from every paper from the Lakeside collection from Pebbles and The Pier line by Crate Paper and fold each square in half to make a triangle, creasing the fold. Arrange the squares in a double border around the edges of a light blue cardstock layout base. Sew around the outer edge using gray thread. Frame photos with chipboard slide frames and adhere them in the middle of the layout. Stamp the date on one of them and add mini alphabet stickers down the side for the title. Write journaling with a white pen around the photos. Sew doily die cut borders across the top and bottom of the photos. Embellish the layout with chipboard shapes, sequins, and drops of blue spray mist.

Supplies: Cardstock, date stamp, adhesive: American Crafts; Patterned paper: Crate Paper, Pebbles; Chipboard (arrow, buttons, frames, geotag, sentiment), doily border die cuts, stickers (mini alphabet, "sweet summer days", sequins: Crate Paper; Spray mist: Studio Calico; Ink: StazOn; Pen: Uni-Ball Signo; Sewing machine: Bernina; Thread: Coats & Clark; Square punch: Fiskars
The next Garden Girl debut is July 1st - be there or be square!
