We've been here 4 weeks to the day! Our household goods are here stored in crates somewhere, now we just need a house to put everything in! Last time I updated I had gone into the housing office on the 25th of July because that's when they said it'd be ready. But when I went in they said it wouldn't be ready until the 9th of August - two weeks later... Nothing I could do, so we've just been hanging out! Chris went with his friend to the housing office today and on a whim he decided to see if our house was ready to be seen and lo-and-behold, it was! Yay! Three days early! So this afternoon, while the kids were napping and Chris was home for lunch, I took a friend's car to go check it out at long last! (Because yes, even though our car arrived yesterday, the battery was dead. Haha. Yeah. We're lucky :) But Chris replaced it tonight and it's good as new!)
I think it's technically called a townhome? You can correct me if I'm wrong. It's in the neighborhood that we've been pushing for because a lot of the people in our ward are there. It's 8 minutes away from Chris's work - compared to 45 like it was in LA! It's 4 stories, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and 1500 square feet or something like that.

Upon entry the first thing on the left is a powder bathroom. Cool beans.
This is the view opening the front door. And on the right is a kitchen. It's the biggest kitchen we've ever had in our 6 years of marriage/3 apartments. 'Bout time!
So many cabinets! Maybe I'll actually learn to cook here :)
Past the bathroom and kitchen is a mudroom closet for all the big heavy snow coats and boots that we'll be sporting 8 months of the year! A little past the closet is a winding staircase - one of MANY!
This is the main living area. So much potential! We're allowed to paint, unlike our last apartment, so now the ideas are flying. Thank you Pinterest! The main floor.
The backyard. We've never had a backyard before so I'll take it!
Moving down to the basement. The huge utility room with a washer and dryer. Plenty of room for storage.
And in our friend's similar houses they've turned this room into the playroom - that sounds good to me! It's cement floors so we'd like to add a carpet and paint to give it some personality.
A big room in the middle - who knows what to do with that!? And then looking up all the staircases!
Going up to the 2nd floor - this is the main big bathroom.
It's got a separate tub and shower and two sinks. We've only ever had one bathroom so to have three is mind-boggling! 3 toilets to clean :) And these doors are to Fox and Jane's rooms.
Fox's room? Or Jane's. Not sure yet. All this furniture is the Army's which will be gone before we get in.
Another view. Why is the door off the hinges?
This is the other room. Picture it with nothing you see here, and then add all of Fox or Jane's stuff!
The built-in closet stays! The bedrooms actually have closets, unlike our last apartment, so that's super sweet!
And then on the top level is the entire master suite - holy moly! I think we'd put the bed in that niche?
His and hers closets - or just hers and hers :)
Bathroom. Fun stuff :)Windows with views!
This is AWESOME! You can do SO much with this cute place!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat place!! I love the photo of looking up at all the stairs.. neat perspective. I can empathize with you on the cold for 8 mos. Living in WI isn't no treat sometimes either. This past winter, the winter coats came out in October and didn't get put away until almost mid May. Who would think you would get 8 inches of snow a week into the month? First I have ever seen and I have lived here (MN/WI) most of my life.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an awesome place, Paige!!! Hope everything goes through okay and the offer is accepted!
ReplyDeletelove it, I can't wait to see it with all of your decorating ideas..it will be amazing! the staircases are just too cool!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a FAB place!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place! Will you own it, or does it belong to the army? Did you have all of your furniture shipped over? Sorry, I'm from Canada. No idea how this stuff works :)

ReplyDeletePamD - it's government owned. Yup, we shipped all of our stuff over from California and it's here waiting for us!
ReplyDeleteYou will be cellulite-free with all those stairs! I sure was in my three-story house.
ReplyDeleteThat looks SOOOOO cool! I hope you get it! :)
ReplyDeleteSo neat! I'm excited that you guys get so much space to play with.. AND get to actually decorate it!! Uh. and the random room in the middle...... HELLO scrap room! Just saying.... and for the record, the downside of all of those bathrooms is certainly the cleaning. But you're supermom so I'm sure you'll be fine. :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun!! Can't wait to see what all you do with the place! I can't believe how big it is! Woo! And that view, miss it! Hoping Eric and I can make it back to Germany and pay you a visit! We miss it already!!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a lot of space & closets.....hope you get it. BTW, add Cinque Terra to your list in Italy. I take it you are going to see the Amalfi coast when you visit Pompeii and Naples (we are going there in about a month)after biking across Italy. What a wonderful experience for you and your family!
ReplyDeleteAhh hurray! I can't wait to see what you do with it; I always loved your apartment here in South Pas.
ReplyDeleteI have to say though--those stairs are cool, but they are making nervous when I think about little kids climbing them!
But it is so big and nice!!
Sooo many bathrooms to clean)))
