The One with Jamie's Book

Thursday, February 6, 2014

Lots of show-and-tell lately! I'm going to Poland tomorrow with some girlies so that'll be a nice change of pace to blog about :)

My friend Jamie Yetter (and owner of one of my most favorite baby products in the world, Covered Goods), asked if I'd make her a book to store all of their family Christmas cards. Of course! I'd be delighted!
The finished book is 5.5 x 9"
I used two different types of wood panels for the covers - gives it an eclectic look.
I added crystal beads to the binding and used gold baker's twine to sew it together for a little sparkle & shine - 'tis the season!
On the cover I tried something I've NEVER done before - wood burning! I got a little tool from Amazon and burned a "Y" for "Yetter" on the cover. It looked a little plain so I painted it white and then added gold glitter to match the gold baker's twine binding.
The pages are made from Christmas patterned papers mixed with cardstock and regular printer paper.

As always, I used a copic binding :)
The finished book:

I hope she likes it!

  5. Outstanding, as always. This is some serious craftmanship, an art that is almost lost. I'm glad you are keeping it alive!
