The One with the 2Peas Daily Life Layout & Video

I have a daily life-themed Garden Girl layout and video up at Two Peas in a Bucket today! It started with the official June moodboard:
Since it was an "inspired" themed layout I found a quilt on pinterest and fell in love with the pieced houndstooth design. Sold!

Description: It's the everyday moments that make life worth living! Our morning routine, bedtime routine, when Daddy comes home from work, etc. I made this layout based on a photo of Chris playing with the kids after a long day at the clinic. They scream with delight every time he walks in the door! It is such a special, daily life moment that had to be scrapbooked! I love the bright colors in this month's moodboard and created a quilt-inspired (of course!) background using a 1" square punch. It's my goal in life to see how many different layouts I can make with a simple square punch :)

Journaling says: Every day when your dad gets home from work you immediately give him a ginormous hug and demand that he play with you! It makes Daddy so happy to know that he is loved and missed while he's gone to work all day! You guys love to play in the backyard and draw with chalk and hit balls and blow bubbles and ride bikes together! I love these tender special moments!

How to: Punch two 1" squares from each of your chosen papers. I used the Plus One collection by Amy Tangerine for American Crafts, but any paper line or scraps or favorite papers will work wonderfully!

Trim one square from each set in half to make a triangle. Piece together the background - it's easiest to watch the video or look at the finished layout to see how it's made rather than describe with words :) Break up the houndstooth design by outlining three of them with a black pen and three more with a white pen. Journal inside the black ones. Machine stitch around three more of the houndstooths and leave the threads long. Layer a tag, die cut, wood veneer card, and ticket sticker on the center, topped with a photo, and add a black foam Thickers title along with a heart. Place a mini heart sticker in the foam heart. Stamp the date below. Splash black India ink around the layout. Layer matching colored buttons on a few of the houndstooths.

Here is the video so you can watch how I made this layout from start to finish:
Supplies: Cardstock, patterned paper, foam stickers (heart, words), tag, wood veneer card, stickers (heart, tag), buttons, square punch, adhesive: American Crafts; Pens: American Crafts (black), Uniball Signo (white); Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark; Date stamp: October Afternoon; Ink: StazOn; India ink: Artworks

Thanks for stoppin' by! I had fun making this layout and it came together FAST: I was able to film the entire thing during Jane's morning nap - love when that happens!
