The One with Insta-Lately June 12th Edition

Thursday, June 12, 2014

It's been over 2 months since my last "insta-lately" installment! Crazy to think what's happened and where we've been since April (Zagreb, Croatia | Plitvice Lakes, Croatia | Split, Croatia | Mostar, Bosnia | Dubrovnik, Croatia | Kotor, Montenegro | Budva & Sveti Stefan | Korčula, Croatia | Ljubljana, Slovenia | Herrenchiemsee Palace, Germany | Salzburg, Austria | Lake Königssee, Germany to be exact!). Going through my instagram feed and our hashtag #evansfamilyeuropeanadventures makes me realize how truly blessed we are. True confession: I am a pretty negative and pessimistic person, I tend to whine and complain a lot, but try not to do it too much openly (my poor husband and mother :), so whenever I feel like I'm having a bad day, all I have to do is look through photos and I perk right up again! Another reason I love scrapbooking - documenting all of these happy moments in our life! Anyway, here's a little bit of what we've been up to according to my phone and instagram feed (@paigetaylorevans):

Inside a church. I will never ever tire of going inside these holy and beautiful buildings!

Janey girl in front of the Grafenwöhr water tower. It was a gorgeous day!

Narrow alley in Prague.

Stained glass inside Prague castle. Prague is only 2 hours away making it great for a day trip. A day trip! Prague!

One more of Prague for good measure. It really is a beautiful city.

Couldn't get enough of the Maggie Holmes bow metal die! How CUTE!

Yeah. I pretty much love patterned paper.

After raining for I swear a solid three weeks the sun finally paid us a visit! The view from our living room window.

We got a huge map from Amazon and we are having a blast pinning all the places we've been. It'll be such a fun keepsake when we're through with our European adventure!

This is the picture I grammed once I finished this book in less than a day. What a page-turner!

I couldn't bear to throw this paper towel away that I used for misting over a large die cut! It's just too pretty! So it's inside a page protector and now I don't know what to do with it. Frame it as art for the kids' walls?

Sometimes we don't feel like cooking and drive to the base to eat at the cafeteria! I think it's quite decent food and it beats cooking and best of all there's no clean up! The fields in front of the building were full of dandelions so after dinner Fox and Jane had a heyday picking them and blowing them all over.

Austria. Could this country BE any prettier?

Joey and Rachel. They sit up on the couch only after the kids have gone to sleep.

Doors from the Balkans. Apparently they love all tints, tones, shades, and hues of aqua just like me!

Scrapbook supplies, or super fun new toys? Fox was my little scrap companion complete with sound effects. It's fun to have him as my little buddy.

Finally feels like summer!

Snapshots from our trip to Salzburg.

Über Bavarian building!

Chrissy brought me a beautiful bouquet of roses for my birthday!

Remember the cakeplate we found in Munich at the art museum? Well, we couldn't stop thinking about it and after several calls back and forth we found the distributer and I got three cakeplates and a tray for my birthday/our anniversary/mother's day! I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! I keep them in the kitchen just like this so I can see them all the time.

Jane and Fox in front of our church building. The tale we like to tell is this building used to be a bar and when THE Elvis Presley was stationed here in Graf he sung and played the piano RIGHT HERE!

I love dressing Jane in dresses. She didn't like them when she was an infant but now I think she likes the freedom and the wind blowing between her cankles.

This is the picture I grammed from Popcorn Night that I blogged about a few days ago. Oh so funny.

#latergram. From Königssee. No wonder so many people get married here! It's idyllic!

More patterned paper? Yup :)

Let's be honest. I love nap time. What busy mom of two toddlers doesn't? We had 15 minutes until it was their nap time so we whittled the minutes away taking selfies, or rather, wefies.

I'm contributing to the DIGITAL: BEYOND THE BASICS class at Studio Calico! Here is a sneak of the layout I made. I didn't even use a single piece of patterned paper on it! So not me! But every once in awhile it's fun to try out the current trends - which as of late include watercoloring your background.

My mom's craft room is cuter than mine. I especially love her tassel garland which she made!

Sneak of an upcoming 2Peas Garden Girl layout! I designed the "hearts heart" cut file and will share with everyone once it comes out next Saturday!

This is my favorite dress of Jane's. Here she is perusing the toy aisle at the PX - the military version of Target but faaaaaaar from actual Target. I miss Target.

Eschenbach. The city in which we technically live. Pretty as a postcard.

I took Joey to the vet for the first time since we've lived here to get his next round of vaccines. The clinic was someone's house-turned office. In the middle of nowhere. But it was super nice and clean! There are so many different things here than the states! There are no mini malls or strip malls. Anyway, this was the house across the street and I fell in love with it.

Attempting to get some new photos printed to scrap and... Huh? I'm guessing it's something along the lines of "out of order." I really want and need to learn German!

Rachel's favorite place to hang out lately. I think because she can see everything that's going on below aka Cat of the Mountain Syndrome. PS - when we first moved in I was super scared for my kids' lives going up and down these stairs! But they're just scarier looking than they are in reality. Fox and Jane have mastered them. They're stair masters, if you will, in all senses of the word. We have FOUR sets of these stairs in our house. But yes I still have cellulite in case you were wondering. Anyway, here's Rachel.

Layout in progress for Shimelle.com!
I'm trying to take more photos of living in Germany when I'm out and about. Since the neighborhood I live in is totally like an American neighborhood, I have to really appreciate when we drive through Eschenbach and Grafenwöhr and soak in all their uniqueness! It's flower season! And yes, this house is really neon green!

Vines are taking over this building and I love it!

Our town. Eschenbach.
That's what we've been up to in a nutshell!

  2. Oh, oh, that pic of Fox and Jane in the dandelions! Be still my heart.

I think I sighed progressively louder with each of the travel pictures. Idyllic.

I think if I have a bad day looking at your pictures would make me happy! ;)

  3. I love, love, love this post. I'm pretty sure the pin you put in Mattinghofen, Austria is your favorite, right? And I don't think you're a negative person. You brighten every room you walk into! Every picture with Fox and Jane in it is my favorite.

  5. And I am totally the opposite ... I always find something good in everything ... when our house was robbed and they took our 6 ft. safe...I said ... well, at least they didn't go into the kids rooms and ransack their things and steal the things they find valuable :) And as for the paper towel ... you should do what Dina Wakely does ... she uses them as backgrounds on her pages :) She sews them down on the paper and then builds up from there :)
