The One with the American Crafts SHIMELLE MINUS PINK Layout

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

I have a layout up on the American Crafts blog today - the task was to create a layout using the Shimelle line, without any pink! It's really cool how the entire look of a line changes when a color or two is eliminated.

Description: I found an image on Pinterest, of course, of an alphabet made with children's blocks and decided to translate it to paper!

Journaling says: It's true - you are an awesome little dude with so much character. You always make us laugh!

How to: Cut patterned papers by hand into pieces inspired by children's wooden blocks then arrange them along with photos and a few embellishments on a gray cardstock layout background. Stitch crosses with white floss in some of the gaps. Layer papers and mini alphabet stickers along with journaling across the top and bottom edges. Stitch over the title. Apply a rub on and add a word sticker to one of the photos. Stamp the date somewhere. Drop black India ink over the layout in three places to create a visual triangle to draw the eye all around the layout.

Supplies: Cardstock, patterned paper, stickers, cork, chipboard, rub on, die cuts, adhesive, roller date stamp: American Crafts; Floss: DMC; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark; India ink: ProArt
