In this class you'll learn how to use punches, weaving, and more, to build playful patterned layouts. We'll dive right in to the fun stuff as we start artfully tearing and layering strips of patterned paper in prints and solids, for richly textured pages. Plus, I'll show you how to add photos, and use embellishments for expertly framed images.

As paper crafters, we know that our cutting machine is our best friend. In this lesson, I'll show you how to use machines, such as the Silhouette Cameo, to create mesmerizing, intricate backgrounds. Then, we'll explore a variety of ways to pair scraps from your favorite patterned papers using cutouts.

Up next, we're bringing stitchwork from the sewing basket to your paper projects with a few fun techniques. Find out how to create textured backgrounds, and attach folded and patterned circles to your pages using your trusty sewing machine. Don't have a sewing machine? I'll share hand stitching techniques you can master using embroidery floss for a unique effect.

The background is the anchor of your page, so let's make it pop! In this lesson, I'll demonstrate how to build your backgrounds using a variety of cutting techniques paired with complementary color themes. Get playful with punched and layered hearts to create a stylish ombré effect or go chic and monochrome using die cuts. I'll also show you how to use a paper trimmer to achieve an unforgettable rainbow sunburst.

Another wonderful way to add pattern to your projects is by using custom shapes and intricate motifs from your electronic cutting machine. Bring a cloud of embellished butterflies to life, build a playful alphabet, create quilt–inspired designs and even work with sewn–on chevrons. You'll always have the perfect cut out for any design idea!

One of the most fun and easy ways to play with paper is with strips that are cut by hand or by using a trimmer. Up next, learn how to weave or roll paper strips to create a stunning mat or a frame for precious photos. Plus, I'll share a few of my favorite lively layouts!

Can't find the patterned paper you've been dreaming of? Create it yourself, with my tips for using watercolors to customize your paper. Then, cut your designs with an electronic cutting machine, a paper punch or by hand. Finally, I'll show you how to build a tone–on–tone background with spray mist and a doily for a charming effect.
