NSD 2016 CHALLENGE: Make a layout based on a quilt!
DESCRIPTION: Like the challenge infers, this layout was inspired by a quilt! It's been awhile since I've converted fabric pieces into patterned paper pieces and thought it'd be fun to try this technique again with Fancy Free!
JOURNALING SAYS: You are one-of-a-kind my darling Jane Catherine! Your newest nickname is Sweet'n'Sour... it fits :)
HOW TO: Based on the quilt, I hand cut a whole bunch of diamond shapes from most of the papers in the 6x6 paper pad and then pieced them across the B-side of paper #9. I removed three of the "stars" thinking I would place photos there, and then stitched across each row to really get the quilted look. I was having a hard time making the 3 photos work, so I narrowed it down to one and clustered everything across the center. I like how the three "empty" places break up the busy background. The title is from the Heart Paige Kit and I splattered black and white paint across for the finishing touch.
SUPPLIES: Patterned paper, die cuts, journaling cards: Fancy Free by Paige Evans/Pink Paislee; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark; Paint: Americana; Doily: Wilton; Pen, adhesive: American Crafts
