Memo Board by Flóra Farkas

Tuesday, January 31, 2017

Do you love checking things off your to-do list? Do you like to plan well in advance and know what's coming up? And then what if I asked if you like to combine cute AND functional?! Well good news my friends, that's exactly what Flóra Farkas has done in her project she's sharing today!
Hi girls! I am back with a new off-the-page project! To be honest, I don't like nice, but good-for-nothing things ;) I just move them from one shelf to another and I can't even throw them away. So I thought I would make something useful with pretty papers from Oh My Heart collection! Once I saw on Pinterest a great idea with a weekly planner made from a photo frame. When I saw Paper 16 from Oh My Heart I instantly knew "I will use it for a DIY memo board!"
 photo 10x10 footer tamplete square.jpg
I used a white frame with plexiglass as my base. I created a montage as an insert. I used three different patterned papers from the collection which can function as cut apart sheets as well: Oh My Heart Papers 01, 16, and the Specialty Paper with rose gold foil.
 photo 1 1.jpg
Outside of the frame I adhered only few Ephemera Die Cuts with foam tape because I didn't want to cover useful places on my board. You can write with a whiteboard pen and easily remove it and use it again and again!

I also made a short tutorial video if you have time to check it out:
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope I could inspire you to make a useful off-the-page project with the Pink Paislee Paige Evans Oh My Heart collection.

It's the best when fun meets functional! Don't you think a memo board is the perfect definition of that?!

The Good Life Layout by Missy Whidden

Friday, January 27, 2017

I'm tellin' ya, Paper 06 is simply irresistible! It just HAS to be fussy cut :) Missy Whidden is sharing a lovely, colorful layout today mixing and matching all three of my Pink Paislee collections! I love how they go so well together!
Hey there, friends! It’s Missy again and I knew as soon as I saw the Oh My Heart collection that I would have to immediately fussy cut the flowers from patterned Paper 06. The sizes… the shapes… the colors… oh my! I pulled the gorgeous pink watercolor Paper 11 from Fancy Free to use as my background. I think it gives a nice contrast to all the shades of green in the leaves. I chose a pool photo to scrap because of all the blue in it. I love how it pops against that pink background and all those colorful flowers. I decided to add a little watercolor to the background and I went with a blue aqua color. I like how it resembles splashes of water coming out from behind the flowers and the photo. The flowers make excellent layering pieces and you honestly can’t go wrong with beautiful floral pieces!
 photo The Good Life.jpg
I also added in some bits and pieces from the Take Me Away collection. I used some of the Chipboard Stickers here and there. I used the leafy stems and a few of the sentiments, like this Carpe Diem piece.  It is so awesome how all of these collections work so nicely together. I added a bit of watercolor splatters and finished it off with some gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine. My journaling fit nicely under the design and I used a ruler to make sure my lines were straight. I love the dimension of these big leaves. I didn’t glue them down flat so I could bend the edges to make them look more realistic.
 photo The Good Life1.jpg
I used some of the Oh My Heart Puffy Stickers for my title. I decided to place them right on top of the photo since there was a lot of white space there. This is a fun tip to think about when you’re taking pictures. If you can (and you’re thinking about scrapbooking at the time… haha) try to leave some open space in the photo like this. It gives you some room to add a title or an embellishment to it without covering up anything important on the photo. I love the contrast of the yellow stickers with the pretty blue background. I added a little bit of tangled thread here for added texture and color. I just love all of these flowers and colors! And there’s another chipboard piece from Take Me Away.
 photo The Good Life3.jpg
Here you can see some of the background watercolor work. I love the shiny gold details on the Take Me Away chipboard. I echoed that with the gold Color Shine to add even more pops of shine. I decided I didn’t have enough fussy cut flowers, so I pulled a few floral die cuts from the Oh My Heart Ephemera Die Cuts.

Fussy Cut & Stitched Flowers Layout

Wednesday, January 25, 2017

I created a new layout for the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo blog!
photo Smile in Wroclaw by Paige Evans.jpg
SMILE IN WROCLAW by Paige Evans

DESCRIPTION: One of my favorite papers in Oh My Heart is Paper 06 which is full of colorful flowers. I knew I wanted to fussy cut them and use them on a layout!
JOURNALING SAYS: Finding the gnomes all around the city was too much fun - let's go back!
HOW TO: I started by doing the fussy cutting. I cut out about 80% of the flowers, small, medium, and large. The blue leafy pieces I cut out and then lightly adhered onto a sheet of transparency so that I could easily move them around and figure out where I wanted them without having to move every single piece every single time. I wasn't originally thinking about stitching, but as I was cutting out the flowers I noticed the printed details on them such as lines and dots and thought, "Hey! Those could be stitched!" Goodness knows I couldn't pass up a stitching opportunity! So I spent some time piercing holes hand stitching through almost all of the flowers. I even jumped on YouTube and figured out how to make French Knots - so much easier than I thought they would be to create! Some of the flowers and leaves didn't have any printed designs on them so I just made up my own. Most of the time I used the same color of thread that was printed on the flowers and leaves to do the stitching, but sometimes I wanted to add in more colors. Once all of the details were stitched I picked a background cardstock and then figured out the placement - I decided to create a faux bouquet if you will and then adhered everything in place. Next I hand cut some stems from green patterned papers and cardstock. I hand cut a bow from patterned paper to tie the "bouquet" together. And of course, what's a layout without a photo, title, and journaling?! Those were the finishing touches! Oh and I added some subtle stamping. Everything you see is from my Oh My Heart collection :)
SUPPLIES: Patterned paper, stickers (mini alphabet, puffy, transparency), Thickers, stamps, heart charm: Oh My Heart by Paige Evans / Pink Paislee; Cardstock, pen, adhesive: American Crafts; Ink: Studio Calico; Thread: DMC

Wild Smile Layout

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

I have a new layout with a "mix Paige Evans collections" theme to share today!
photo Wild Smile by Paige Evans.jpg
WILD SMILE by Paige Evans
DESCRIPTION: I wanted to mix all three of my Pink Paislee collections: Fancy Free, Take Me Away, and Oh My Heart - specifically the papers from the 6x6 paper pads! The more patterns I can use on a page the better I say - gimme all the colors!! And as you can see from these examples below, I'm a big fan of the half circles technique and have used it MANY times over the years ;) Why change a good thing?!
 photo Desktop_1.jpg
JOURNALING SAYS: What is with this corntastic grin of yours? You are just too funny and adorable. Our walks back home from school always make me laugh so hard. Stay awesome!

HOW TO: Punch a 1" circle from all of the papers in each of the 6x6 patterned paper pads. There are even 1 or 2 papers in each pad that have lots of different patterns on one piece - punch a circle from each pattern! Stack 4 circles together then cut them in half - save half of the half circles for a different project! Trace a round bowl or object on the center of the B side of Paper 06 then adhere the paper half circles around. Continue adding layers until almost to the edge. To help secure the papers in place, use a sewing machine to stitch around each ring. Bend up the papers to create dimension. Cluster two photos, die cuts, embellishments, and journaling on the right side of the page.

SUPPLIES: Patterned paper, stickers (chipboard, paper, puffy), Thickers, paperclip, die cut, wood veneer: Paige Evans / Pink Paislee; Circle punch: Fiskars; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & Clark; Pen, adhesive: American Crafts

Oh My Heart Mini Album

Saturday, January 21, 2017

Today I want to share an Oh My Heart mini album made from a single sheet of cardstock from a very clever cut file by Bea Valint from My Shiny Studio
photo Oh My Heart Mini Album by Paige Evans.jpg
DESCRIPTION: This was going to be my make-n-take at the Pink Paislee CHA / Creativation booth but last minute personal health issues thwarted those wonderful plans! You can still watch how this mini album came to be in the YouTube video below, download the free cut file, and start making tons of your own mini albums to give to family, friends, and loved ones!
JOURNALING SAYS: These are a few of my favorite things: my hubby, traveling, painted buildings, flowers, ampersands, books, Disneyland, bright colors, legos, & scrapbooking natch! (And oh my goodness I meant to add 'my kids' in there too!!)
HOW TO: Die cut the mini album cut file from white cardstock then fold along the perforated lines. Slide in a piece of ribbon through the pre-made slits. Cut squares of patterned paper and adhere them to most of the sections. Top the patterned papers with small photos and die cuts. Fold over and secure the pocket pages and tuck in more photos (or whatever you'd like!). Stamp the dotted image three times on the top and stamp two sets of journaling lines on the bottom - write journaling. Embellish further with washi tape, stickers, and die cuts. Fold the album up, add a flower die cut on top, then tie the ribbon in to a bow to keep it all together. So fun and cute!

Mom Life Mini Album by Steffi Ried

Friday, January 20, 2017

There is definitely a "mom life" theme throughout Oh My Heart! So when Steffi Ried's mini album all about her life as a mom showed up in my inbox and I started reading the journaling details, it really spoke to me and makes me want to be a better mom! My favorite quote she wrote is this one: "A GOOD MOM has bad days & great days & normal days & overwhelming days & perfect days & trying days & supermom days & just being a mom days & a whole lot of love & real & crazy motherhood days." Right?!?
Hello and welcome to my second post! Today I will show you my first project with the wonderful new collection Oh My Heart. Isn't it dreamy?! I immediately noticed the sweet heart charms as well as the colorful colors. When I unpacked the many embellishments from the Ephemera Die Cuts, the die cut "mom life" fell into my hands. And then I immediately knew the theme of my mini album. I created an album in the "Travel Journal" style. As a mom of a small daughter, the pink paper fits perfectly. I used photos of myself with my daughter in different sizes which makes the album more interesting. I am in LOVE with this stunning collection.
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_9x9 Insta.jpg
For the cover I used the great Acrylic Stamps from Oh My Heart. I applied the flower stamp with white embossing powder for a neat texture then I attached the title with 3D glue dots.
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_1_1.jpg
The album is 3.5x 7". The inside pages have different sizes. First I cut the papers including some vellum and folded them in the middle. With a sewing machine I stitched it down the middle. A super easy way to create an album. Then I decorated the inside. On the first page I used a big photo and on the right side I used a chipboard "love" sticker and "you" mini alphabet stickers.
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_2.jpg
On the next page I added a small photo and some journaling which is inside the folded photo.
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_3_.jpg
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_3_1_.jpg
The paper with the hearts is totally sweet. I kept this page very simple with the small black and white photo. On the other side I glued some pretty flower die cuts. I added details to the flowers with machine stitching.
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_4_.jpg
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_4_1_.jpg
In the middle of the album I glued a black and white photo. With the beautiful embellishments you can create a nice page very easily.
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_5_.jpg
On the left side, a small pocket is hidden between the pages which are glued together. Therein is another paper with a photo.
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_5_1_.jpg
Aren't the book chipboard stickers great?! My daughter loves to read books. I often read aloud to her.
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_6_.jpg
Behind a book I created a small page that can be opened. The text is written with a typewriter and I added machine stitching details.
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_6_1_.jpg
On this page I cut out more flowers from the patterned paper and put them on the photo. On the vellum paper I sewed a small confetti pocket filled with sequins.
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_7_.jpg
There is another big photo on the last page again. Similar to the first layout I made for this team, I sewed on it for a beautiful texture.
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_8_.jpg
To close the album, I wrapped twine around the middle three times and attached a tag and a heart charm.
 photo SteffiRied_Minialbum_MomLife_1_1.jpg
I hope you like my album and are interested in playing with the new collection soon! I can recommend it to you. I'm sooo in love!

SCT Oh My Heart Layout

Wednesday, January 18, 2017

I have my first layout as a Design Team member up on the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog using Oh My Heart!
photo Wonderful You by Paige Evans.jpg
WONDERFUL YOU by Paige Evans
DESCRIPTION: The photos may not look wintery... but they were taken during winter so that's why I went with the snowflake theme! It works :)
JOURNALING SAYS: Oh all the different faces that you make! One cold wintery day at lunch you were hamming it up at the PX.
HOW TO: Draw the snowflakes onto white cardstock using a pencil, pierce a hole every 1/4" over the pencil, then erase the pencil marks. Choose 7 colors of thread to match the colors of Oh My Heart then backstitch through the snowflakes. Trim off 1/2" from the left and bottom edges then cut an "L" of patterned paper to back the top and left edges. Layer three photos over die cuts and patterned papers and embellish with more die cuts, a bit of washi tape, a fussy cut floral, and chipboard stickers. Journal below the photos to finish.
SUPPLIES: Patterned paper, die cuts, chipboard sticker, mini alpha stickers, washi tape: Oh My Heart by Paige Evans / Pink Paislee; Snowflakes cut file: Paige Evans; Die cut machine: Silhouette Cameo; Floss: DMC; Cardstock, pen, adhesive: American Crafts

Mom Life Mini Album by Flóra Farkas

Tuesday, January 17, 2017

When I received the email from Flóra Farkas with her latest Design Team project, I literally gasped out loud! When I see scrapbooking products I immediately think of all the LAYOUTS I can make with them and rarely does my mind ever wander to "Hmmmm, what else could I make with these scrapbooking supplies?" So when this mini album showed up in my inbox, my heart skipped a beat and made me realize Oh My Heart can be used for so much more than just traditional layouts!
Hi everyone! Flóra back with a cute one ring mini album made with the fresh Oh My Heart collection. I was so excited to receive these new beauties and I must say: I am officially in love. Sooo many pink papers and stunning embellishments, lots of flowers. Awwww... After I flipped through all the papers, I found out this collection has a lot of "mom life" things. I think this is super fun as every mother deserves time and attention for their hard work. This is why I decided to make a tiny album about my mom and our time we spent together in 2016.
 photo 1.jpg
I am not sure if she agrees with the title (lol), but I hope yes ;-)
 photo 2.jpg
The base of my album is made with the Ephemera Die Cuts. There are many big elements like frames and tags which are great for mini album pages. You can also find lots of gorgeous flower die cuts in the pack. I used them in many places for decoration, they are truly eye catching. Then I printed out 2x2” photos and matched them with pages. I placed all of them in front of me and started to embellish them.
 photo 3.jpg
For this page I created a shaker pocket with the Fuse Tool and filled it up with pretty sequins. I also attached a pink eyelet so the plastic hole won't break over time.
 photo 4.jpg
This page was made from a chipboard frame that I backed with a transparency so I could embellish it easily. I love the small alphas from the Sticker Book to create my personal title.
 photo 5.jpg
Here is a montage of few of the pages. I also added die cut pages without photos to cheer up the album. The colorful patterned tags didn't need many decorations, so I just adhered small elements like the cute Heart Charm and Puffy Stickers.
 photo 6.jpg
The last page is my favorite. This card is simply perfection! I adhered our selfie on it and created the title from Sunshine Alpha Thickers. It means "mother" in Hungarian.
 photo 7.jpg
That was my project for today! You can see it's so easy to make a mini album even from a pack of ephemera. I hope I could highlight the prettiness of the Oh My Heart collection and convince you. ;-) Thanks for stopping by!
