Skiing in the Alps

Chris fulfilled a lifelong dream last weekend and went skiing in the Alps with some buddies! They drove down to the little town of Sautens, Austria Friday after work and woke up early Saturday to catch the first lift at Sölden ski resort.
On the first gondola of the day!
Wow! They lucked out and had beautiful weather all weekend.
Skiing in the Alps is a lot different from skiing back in the States because most of the skiable terrain is above the tree line.
That just clears the way for these amazing views!
My hubby practically on top of the world!
I had no idea that they were going to this place! Many scenes from the last James Bond movie "Spectre" were filmed in Sölden. Now I wish I had gone!
The resort definitely was proud of their starring role in the film.

Perfect lunch while skiing in the Alps: bratwurst and pommes with Red Bull (an Austrian company!).
The hills are alive!
Chris and some of his dental clinic colleagues.
They had some fun stuff set up around the mountain including this slalom course where you could scan your ticket and it would film you. Chris says it was suuuuuper icy.
Our friend Jordan in Sölden.
On Saturday night they went into the town of Oetz for some delicious Tyrolean cuisine.
Chris tried the Tyrolean classic Gröstl: fried potatoes, eggs, bacon, and other deliciousness.
There was a cantilevered lookout at the top of one of the lifts. Would you go out on this?!
Panorama from the end of the viewpoint. Austria in all its splendor!
Maybe the boys will let their wives come next time? *hint hint*

  2. Stunning! Glad the boys had such gorgeous weather and a great time together.......the lookout made me dizzy just looking at it. Love the "Bond" photo.....wonder how you will scrap that one.
