Hand stitching. You either love it or you hate it :) But I'm hoping that after today's post, if you're on the fence about it, you'll be inspired to give it a go and see that a little stitching goes a loooong way making a layout look and feel gorgeous and sophisticated! Join Design Team member Stefani Ried as she shares in a photo tutorial how this elegant and beautiful layout came to be.
Today I will show you a new layout with the beautiful Oh My Heart collection. I dared to "stitch". I admire Paige's work very much and her great stitched projects so I wanted to try it too. It was a big challenge for me as I have hardly hand stitched anything on my projects so far. It was fun, but I found out that I do not have patience! I prefer to add stitching with my sewing machine... it's just faster. Haha :) On this layout I have a few stitched accents like the green leaves, the small circles, and the flower stems.
At the beginning I had a large photo which I replaced with a smaller one after awhile.

I fussy cut flowers out of Paper 13. I chose small flowers so the layout looks more light. In the photo my daughter is holding a daisy in her hand that I had found in our meadow.
Then I arranged the cut flowers around the photo and attached them with glue dots. For the photo I used double-sided tape.
Next I stitched the leaf branches. To do this I sketched the branches as well as circles and stems with a pencil.
Before I started stitching I used a paper piercer to poke holes.
Now came the great challenge - the stitching! First I used thicker thread for the stems but because the leaves are very small I changed to thin sewing thread.
I hope you like my first hand stitched layout! I like the combination of the thin and the thicker stitched lines. Thanks for stopping by, until next time!
