The Kerri Bradford design team is celebrating interNational Scrapbook Day and here is what I made!
HILARIOUS by Paige Evans

I was in a major scrapbooking rut last week. I had a requirement to make four layouts for a big project and after the third one I literally could not come up with ANYTHING!! I spent hours searching through my own past layouts, Pinterest boards, Instagram… I felt like everything had already been done, I couldn’t come up with anything new or unique… in the end I scraplifted one of my own layouts but used a different collection, which worked, but I was still in a rut.
And then after that big project was finished I knew my Kerri Bradford NSD layout was up next! And I struggled. I was seriously burnt out and am starting to mentally check out all around because we are moving back to the United States in just a couple months and I have so many other things I am worrying about. But I am committed to my assignments and design teams so I set out to make a layout.
But where oh where to even begin?! Luckily I received some cute Kerri Bradford stamp sets in the mail recently so I sat down with those and tried to get some ideas flowing. 99% of the time when I’m creating a layout I have an idea or a sketch in my mind’s eye or even a literal sketch on paper. Not this time. I was totally winging it. Flying by the seat of my pants. Letting creativity take its course.
I started with my new Stitch Happy sewing machine by We R Memory Keepers and made a gold thread stitch down the center of a white cardstock background (which, on a total tangent, I set myself a goal to not use white cardstock for an entire month which lasted all of 24 hours, hahaha! But I knew I wanted to do colored stamping which looks really great on white cardstock, so it was completely justified!) I couldn’t stop with just the gold stitching. I moved on to pink. And then aqua. Then yellow, green, orange, purple, blue…ALL.THE.COLORS. I was experimenting with all the different stitches my sewing machine has that I had never ever played with before, even though I’ve owned this machine for nearly 10 years! Why have I never noticed those pretty stitch options before?! I kept sewing and sewing and sewing until I’d covered 3/4 of the page.
Now to incorporate the stamping. I had three photos of my daughter Jane being the silly girl that she is so I looked up synonyms for “laugh” and “funny” and stamped out all the words in matching colors that I thought fit with the photo. I trimmed out those stamped words, lined them up down the center of the stitched background, and sewed them in place. Next came the patterned paper strip and a grouping of flowers at the top. The typed, printed, and trimmed journaling was the last step. I felt rejuvenated making this layout. It was so fun to let the layout flow and move in different directions as I kept working on it. I need to try that more!!
JOURNALING SAYS: Who taught you to be so silly? I don't even know but I'm so glad! You make me laugh every.single.day. This instance you put Fox's stickers all over your face. Why? I have no idea! But it's hilarious! Keep being you sweet girl!
