Floral Layout by Steffi Ried

Tuesday, July 18, 2017

It's no secret that I have a soft spot for flowers - more often than not they appear somewhere (or EVERYWHERE!) on my layouts and projects! So this week I asked the designers to create layouts with lots of flowers. Stefanie Ried's layout today is out-of-this-world stunning!
I love summer. One of the best things about it are the meadows full of wildflowers here in Germany. In the summer everything is so beautifully colorful in our garden. Pinks, yellows, reds, greens, blues… I can't get enough of all the colors. So I wanted to create a meadow of flowers on my layout.
Paper 06 and Paper 13 with all the flowers from the Oh My Heart collection are so beautiful. I fussy cut the flowers and added them onto the layout. In order to achieve a 3D effect, I layered the flowers together and added mini Buttons from Take Me Away.

I thought for a long time how to make the stems. Then I decided to use my good ol' sewing machine. I just can’t do without it, haha :) First I sketched the stems and then sewed them with threads in different shades of blue.

For this project I didn't use many supplies - only the two printed papers, the small buttons, a chipboard sticker, and some sewing thread. Sometimes you just need less than you think!

If you want to see how the layout was created, check out the video!

I hope you like my page with all the flowers :) Thanks for stopping by!!

  2. I LOVE the colors in these flowers and how you added depth and made them pop by layering, adding buttons and adding the stitching. My grandmother was from Germany, and I wish I could see things like this that she experienced as a girl.
