Flower Cluster Cut File Layout by Missy Whidden

Tuesday, October 3, 2017

I've been having tons of fun designing cut files for Silhouette so I asked my design team to feature them on their projects this week and next! Missy Whidden created an epic layout in her signature style using the Flower Cluster cut file paired with Turn the Page and I'm so excited to share it with you today!
Hey, friends! Missy here and this week we are showcasing some of Paige’s beautiful cut files available in the Silhouette Store. It was so hard to pick which one to use because they’re all so fantastic! I decided to go with the Flower Cluster. I first cut an entire sheet of white cardstock’s worth of the various flowers and leaves. Then I sorted through all the papers from the Turn the Page collection and chose several to make flowers. I cut 3x3 squares from seven different patterned papers and a few from the Turn the Page 6x6 Paper Pad and cut them on my Silhouette Cameo. I will list all of the individual papers down below in my supply list. I wanted to scrap this hilarious family photo and have it surrounded by a bunch of colorful flowers. So that is what I did!
I arranged all those gorgeous flowers on a sheet of white cardstock. I loved how it looked so much that I didn’t want to move anything, so I very carefully glued all of them together. This allowed me to move the entire arrangement of flowers around without them getting jumbled up. I wanted to add watercolors to the background, so I pulled out some coordinating colors of Shimmerz sprays and used the packaging and splattering technique. I love the look of the watercolor peeking through the open spots and around the edges. I think these flowers look so good layered on top of each other like this! I went back after everything was glued down and added in a few floral stickers from the Turn the Page Sticker Book.
I did more of the same on the left side of the photo. I added in some matching tangled thread in a few places for more pops of color and texture. I mixed and matched some of the Turn the Page Washi Tape Book tape with a sticker from the Sticker Book for my title. I adhered both of them to vellum and cut them out; this was I could move them around and they are more visible on the busy background.
This photo cracks me up… haha! So typical every time we try and take a picture together! Here you can see how well the title works together. I added in a floral piece from the Turn the Page Chipboard Stickers behind the tape. I finished everything off with some splatters of gold Color Shine.
I hope this inspires you to check out Paige’s cut files in the Silhouette Store! I promise you'll find something you love! They are all amazing and have so many possibilities!
