Fox & Bun Layout

Thursday, October 5, 2017

Hi scrappy friends! Sharing a new layout created for the Scrapbook and Cards Today Blog and a process video to go along with it!
I am featuring my Geometric Fox cut file available in the Silhouette Design Store paired with my Turn the Page collection with Pink Paislee! To begin I die cut the fox from textured white cardstock and then pierced holes every 1/8" or so around the entire design. Next I backstitched through the holes using all 6 strands of DMC white embroidery floss - it took a few hours so you definitely don't need to do this step, but I LOVE the texture and dimension that it adds!
Then I backed each space with patterned paper - I mostly used the Turn the Page 6x6 Paper Pad but I also used a few bits of 12x12 papers. I traced the finished fox onto a subtle patterned paper and then painted around the traced area with white gesso and acrylic paint. After splashing more white acrylic paint around the background I adhered the fox with dimensional adhesive.
I found a photo of my son Fox holding our new bunny Phoebe and tucked it under the top. Next I added the Thickers title and embellished with all kinds of animals and bits & pieces from Turn the Page in two clusters.
This was such a fun layout to put together and I hope you are inspired to make one like it! Check out the process video to see exactly how this page was made:
