Find me on page 44 of the Winter 2017 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today featuring a layout about something I love! Can you guess? It's FLOWERS! Did you know you can download this issue for FREE from their website (www.scrapbookandcards.com)?! Over 80 pages of brilliant layouts, cards, sketches, cut files, and more, heck even the ads are amazing! This is one of the last layouts I made using Pink Paislee Turn the Page - now I'm working on lots and lots (and lots!) of new projects using collection 5 - can't wait to start sharing sneaks in just 6 days!!
To make this layout... well let's just say it took some time to do the hand stitching haha! We were going on a 12 hour road trip (6 hours there and back) and I need something to keep me occupied during the drive, I can't just sit there lol. So I die cut my Flower Cluster cut file from white cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo 3 and then I pierced a hole every 1/8" or so through them. I chose colors of threads to match Paper 02 from Turn the Page and then backstitched through all the flowers and leaves. It didn't take the entire 12 hours, maybe about 4 or 5... not too bad! :)
Then I backed all of the flowers and leaves with vellum to give them a softer look. I whitewashed the background of Paper 02 and layered the flowers and leaves down the center, tucking my floral photo into the left side. I journaled on the right edge with a .01 black precision pen. I added a Pennant Paper Clip above the photo and embellished the flowers minimally with floral Chipboard Stickers, floral Puffy Stickers, stickers from the Turn the Page Sticker Book and my 30-page #StickerBook, along with a couple Wood Veneer pieces. Done and done!
I love flowers, lots of color, hand stitching, using cut files... all the things! I hope you are inspired to give one or two of these techniques a try and do make sure to check out the Winter 2017 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine!
