Say Cheese! Layout for iNSD at Scrap Gals

International Scrapbook Day fun continues!! Here is a new layout I made for the Scrap Gals Facebook Community.
First, a quick and easy process video tutorial:
I started by punching petals from a rainbow of patterned papers. A couple months ago I grabbed the solid color papers from all of my Pink Paislee collections (Fancy FreeTake Me AwayOh My HeartTurn the Page, and Pick-Me-Up) and I keep them in a special place for times just like this - when I want the layout to be more about color than a certain product or collection.
Next I played around with the arrangement of the petals: should I used the large or small ones, pink background or lavender background, spread out or layered? I went with the smaller petals, on the textured lavender cardstock, spread out. I used temporary adhesive to stick them down in rainbow order and then machine stitched with like colors through all of the petals. Took some time, but worth the results!
After stitching I left the thread ends long for lots of whimsy and texture and then bent up the petals for dimension and shadows. Next I splashed white acrylic paint over the layout, concentrating the drops more at the center of the petals and then thinning out towards the edges.
I grabbed my Enamel Dots stash (which I don't have nearly enough colors of I quickly found out!) and placed them between the petals. Then I grabbed my box of Sequins and matched a few on top of the petals for more pops of fun.
On the top right corner I layered my photo of Fox & Jane over some embellishments like Journaling Spots and frames from the Ephemera Die Cuts. The title is made of a Chipboard Sticker "smile!" and fussy cut "say cheese!" from Pick-Me-Up Paper 01. To finish I wrote journaling with a .03 black precision pen on the bottom left corner and stamped the date below. Easy peasy!
