I have a new mini album to share! I used my Accordion Mini Album with Tags cut file and the Here & There by Crate Paper to document our day in Stockholm, Sweden. The colors and theme go hand-in-hand!
First, here is a video so you can see the basic assembly of the base and then a flip through of the finished album:
The finished size of this album is about 3 x 4 x 1.25" - it's pocket-sized! And because the pages are gusseted I can add thick embellishments like chipboard stickers and flair badges and the album still stays closed nicely.
To keep the album flaps shut I used little adhesive velcro dots - they're perfect for projects just like this! You can find those at Amazon or probably your local craft store.
The cut file includes pieces to place in each section of the cover, but I opted not to use them and instead embellished the edges with all kinds of Here & There products like stickers, rub-ons, chipboard stickers, roller stamping, and fussy cut elements. I backed the open heart with a patterned paper piece and then decorated with heart and arrow stickers, an airplane sticker, and sentiment stickers. I carefully machine stitched the sentiment in place and removed the patterned paper backing before doing so.
One of the last things I did was add a decorative charm to the spine. I strung two of the Here & There tassels and a charm from the Good Vibes collection onto jump rings, punched a tiny hole in the side, and attached the piece in place. Here is one side of the open mini album.
When I was trying to decide where to put my photos I simply ran out of space. So, I actually took the album apart and then rebuilt it making each space between the pages a pocket - all you have to do to create pockets is add adhesive on the left, right, and bottom edges only - easy peasy! Then you can add tags, photos, and more embellishments into the pockets. On this spread I added a paper card on the left then embellished with a chipboard geo-tag sticker and fussy cut "travel" word. On the right side I printed journaling straight from my blog using the font Remington Noiseless, trimmed it into strips, then adhered them down another paper card. The "adventure" word at the bottom is a sticker.
Here is one side of the tag that tucks into this pocket. I added a favorite photo and machine stitched around the edges (after the backside was also decorated).
I applied photo corner rub-ons to this family photo and added a typed/printed/trimmed caption at the bottom. The right side is a sort of mini album inside the mini album! More photos below.
This envelope is from Here & There and just so happens to fit perfectly inside the pockets of this album! It was meant to be :)
Inside the envelope is more space for #allthethings including a few photos, a sentiment die cut, and journaling.
To make this mini album inside the mini album I washi taped photos together and created page-turners from folded over tab stickers embellished with heart stickers. I trimmed down the "roam" sticker and added it at the top of the photo. Also, to reinforce the tags and add pops of color I used a reinforcer hole punch to make the "o"s and glued them on both sides of each tag.
Here are the additional spreads inside the mini-mini album. I used more of the adhesive velcro dots to keep the pages closed since they wanted to splay open.
The tag in the pocket between the pages is a cute one of Mr. Fox along with some decorative machine stitching.
The left page is the pocket with notches and inside is yet another mini album! Pictures of it are below. To dress up the pocket I added a flair badge on a puffy globe sticker and I also machine stitched around the edges of the pocket to keep it together better. On the right side I stapled two photos in place and added a sentiment sticker and "travel" rub-on at the top.
Here are the layers under the stapled photos.
Moving along to the other side of the mini album.
We visited Stockholm as the first destination on our Scandinavian cruise and there's a cruise ship sticker in this collection which I just had to use. The left side is a scenic photo with a bit of washi and a geotag stapled at the top.
Decorative tags that are tucked into the pockets.
We actually went to Stockholm in July, not August, and this was after I covered up the month that was originally underneath! Face palm. Haha. I tried to fix it by putting a heart sticker over the day of the month we went and added "July" above that heart sticker. It's all good. On the right side I journaled on the paper card.
Here is a closer look at the tag mini album inside the notched pocket. I found the .75" binder ring in my stash, I believe it's from Amazon.
Here is the tag mini album spread out - I decorated the fronts and backs of each tag. Some of the tags are included in the collection, the rest I die cut from mint cardstock. It was a fun place to use the roller stamp and other things I really loved and wanted to include but didn't originally have space for. Problem solved!
On this last spread I added a puffy cityscape sticker to the bottom of a family photo and on the right I trimmed the top of the photo to follow the curve of the banner sticker and then added printed journaling trimmed into individual words above. Legit Swedish fish in Sweden lol!
Here is the front and back side of the tag that is in this last pocket.
I love how chunky and tiny this mini album is, yet is has a big impact and lots of details!
I hope you are inspired to check out my new Accordion Mini Album with Tags cut file and the Here & There collection by Crate Paper!
