Cutie Layout for June Hip Kit Club

Sunday, June 17, 2018

I am super excited to be the guest designer for the June Hip Kit Club! As soon as I got my kits in the mail I got to work play - I was so inspired by the contents!
First I've got a process video so you can see how this layout came together from start-to-finish.
I started by die cutting my Concentric Stars cut file from lots of different patterned papers in the kit. The cut file cuts the solid inner stars too so I needed to decide which stars and which sides of the double-sided patterned papers to use. Ultimately, I chose the star outlines only and picked a light blue textured cardstock from the kit for my background.
I adhered all of the stars in place and then used my sewing machine and silver thread to stitch around each star. Don't look too carefully, it's definitely not perfect! But I love the texture and shine it adds. I used the largest solid star as a shield and splashed white acrylic paint and the blue Shimmerz in the kit (yay, my first Shimmerz!) around the background.
Once the background dried I added two photos and started embellishing with all.the.things. from the kits. There are so many options to choose from! A couple packages of ephemera die cuts, chipboard stickers, labels, puffy stickers, epoxy stickers, paper stickers, alphabet stickers, more and more and more! I could make like 20 layouts from these kits! It would be a super fun self imposed challenge to kill this kit.
I placed everything at an angle to match the angle of the stars and then wrote journaling on the top right side. A sprinkling of enamel dots here and there is the perfect finishing touch. Done and done!
I hope you are inspired to check out the Hip Kit Club as well as my cut files! Thanks so much for dropping by today!
