I was tasked with creating a stitched background - hand stitching is one of my favorite techniques so I was pumped to begin! I created a stitching template from my Butterfly Background cut file which you can find for free on the Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine website. I used my Silhouette Cameo 3 to pierce the holes onto a light pink striped paper background and then used different colors of thread matching the Flourish collection by Maggie Holmes / Crate Paper to backstitch through.
Once the stitching was finished, I used the Butterfly Background cut file once more to cut butterflies from a few different papers and plain vellum - I changed the size slightly for each pass. I layered the like butterflies together and used my sewing machine to stitch through them before adhering them in place on the background.
I tucked a sweet photo of Jane into the top right corner and then added a few sweet sentiment stickers around. On the bottom left corner I added a title, journaling spot, and flower sticker. Very minimal embellishing to let the stitching shine!
