Independence Day Layout

Happy 4th of July! I've got a patriotic layout to share using the Pink Paislee Sweet Freedom collection, my favorite 4th of July collection ever! I love the rustic feel and more subdued colors paired with buffalo and... FLOWERS :)
This layout came together super quickly with the help of some tools. I started by die cutting my Star Wreath cut file with a Silhouette Cameo 3 from a subtle blue patterned paper in the Sweet Freedom collection. I made sure to size the cut file to fit a star punch I have.
Next I placed a tiny adhesive foam square at the corner of each star on the backside of the cut file. This is the part that took the longest and it's definitely not necessary, I just really love the dimension and shadows it adds. Next I went through the 6x6 Paper Pad and punched two stars from every paper then used those stars to back the cut file. Easy peasy!

I chose another Sweet Freedom patterned paper for the background - it's a really pretty blue with a geometric design. I splashed white acrylic paint and black & blue watercolors in a circle for another layer of interest and let it dry (or rather, blow dried it with a hair dryer to speed up the process). I placed the cut file on top.
I don't have pics from last 4th of July (we were in the middle of moving from Germany back to the USA) and the 4th of July before that I've already scrapped. So I dug into my archives and found the world's cutest photos of Fox at the 4th of July parade in South Pasadena from 2012. I can't even. Look at those curls!

I tucked the pair of photos into the left side of the wreath and got to work embellishing. I used ephemera die cuts and puffy stickers layered together around the photos. For the journaling I wrote it on a tag die cut and tucked it under a photo. I also trimmed a few sentiments from the top of one of the 6x6 papers and tore a paper edge to tuck between the photos.
From start-to-finish this layout took about an hour and a half. That's pretty fast for me hahaha. I hope you're inspired to get your hands on the super cute Sweet Freedom collection and document your patriotic memories!
