You Make Me Feel Happy Layout

I have a new layout to share today featuring a fun and dimensional Bend Up Flower Garden Background cut file that only took 15 minutes to finish after the Cameo did it's thang!
A few months ago I started a Facebook group called Happy Scrappy Place and every week I offer a free cut file - this Bend Up Flower Garden Background is one of them! I cut the background from smooth white cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo 3 to take a photo of it for the group and then set it aside for later, I had a few other projects to tackle first.
One Saturday a few weeks ago I had just 15 minutes to scrap. What could I make in 15 minutes? Hmmmm. Then I remembered this background - the hard work was already done by the Cameo, all that was left to do was to embellish! So I grabbed a photo, some watercolors, my Pick-Me-Up collection, and my enamel dots stash. Ready, set, go!
I started by choosing a paper to back the background. I love the bold hearts featured on Oh My Heart Paper 02 and how the colors peek through the bent up petals and leaves. After adhering the patterned paper to the back I splashed white acrylic paint and watercolors over the background to add another layer of interest.
Once the paints were dry I created two clusters of embellishments - the photo layers on the left and the title layers on the right. I used a lot of flowers to tie into the flower background. The title is made from an Ephemera Die Cut and I trimmed down the HAPPY word from a Sticker. I wrote journaling along the right edge with a blue pen to bring out the blues in Pick-Me-Up.
To finish up and to add a bit of texture and color I brought in my enamel dots stash and placed a few in some of the flower centers.
15 minutes later - DONE! The background does most of the work on this layout and only needed a few more things to be finished up. I'm so happy to have this tender moment documented about Jane's Mother's Day brunch at school. I hope you are inspired to give this background cut file a go and make the most of your 15 minute windows of scrap therapy!

  1. It's hard to believe this is possible in 15 minutes! So pretty Paige! I love how pretty colour just peeks out and all the texture. I think what I need to do is pre-cut a few things on my Silhouette, so I can just jump right in and be creative. A lot of the time I'm surfing my Library trying to decide on just one, I love them all :D
