Happy Layout

I made a new layout for the Pink Paislee blog using my Pick-Me-Up collection featuring a rainbow of colors made from the tone-on-tone technique!
I started by die cutting a circle pie chart with stitching holes and then did a chain link stitch around the entire design using all six strands of white embroidery floss - I love the texture and interest this type of stitching adds!
Then I went through Pick-Me-Up and found eight solid patterned papers (Paper 01Paper 02Paper 03Paper 06Paper 07Paper 13Paper 14Paper 17) with which to back the "pieces of pie." I backed the remaining two spaces with photos of Jane. I placed the patterned papers in rainbow order - all of the colors make me HAPPY - just like the title of the layout!
To embellish I did the tone-on-tone technique. I went through lots of the Pick-Me-Up embellishments (Ephemera Die CutsStickersChipboard Stickers, and Puffy Stickers) and placed the pink ones on the pink slice, the yellow ones on the yellow slice, aqua on aqua, etc. This creates more texture and enhances the rainbow look! I traced the circle onto a smooth white cardstock background, machine stitched around it several times, and then adhered the circle on top. The machine stitching adds... you guessed it - texture!
To finish I wrote my journaling in a bit of empty space inside the lighter yellow slice using a black pen. You can never go wrong with a rainbow color scheme and the tone-on-tone technique! I hope you give it a try!
