Family - Chevron Layout

Friday, April 26, 2019

Hey scrappy friends! I have a new layout to share with you along with a process video featuring my Horizon collection and the Project Pad found exclusively in JoAnn stores! In fact, everything you see on this page can be found at JoAnn stores - woohoo!
Here is the process video so you can see how this layout came together:

I started by cutting up Paper 14 into triangles, heavily distressed the edges with scissors, and then arranged them into rainbow order. I ended up needing a few more triangles but didn't want to repeat any patterns so I cut them from Paper 03.
I used the B-side of Paper 08 for my background and measured at 3", 6", and 9" on the left and right edges. At those measurements I created the three rows of chevrons with the paper triangles. To help them stay in place permanently I machine stitched a zigzag over the chevrons using white thread.
I placed my family photo on the right side and then embellished with the tone-on-tone technique: a cluster of yellow bits over the yellow paper triangles, a cluster of orange bits over the orange paper triangles, so on and so forth. I used pieces from the StickersEphemera Die Cuts, a Shaped Paper Clip, and stickers from the Project Pad.
I journaled with a yellow pen inside the yellow journaling spot so it blends into the overall design. For the title I fussy cut a sentiment from Paper 04 and adhered it below the photo. Done & done!
I have made a chevron layout with pretty much every one of my Pink Paislee collections - why change a good thing!? There is nothing wrong with scraplifting your own layouts and I often do when I'm stumped :) With different collections the results will always look different. Thank you so much for stopping by today - I hope you found something inspiring!
