Paradise - Fussy Cut Floral Background Layout

Monday, April 1, 2019

I have a new layout to share with you featuring a fussy cut floral background using my new Horizon collection and a title sticker from the Project Pad which can be found exclusively at JoAnn stores!
Check out the process video to see how this came together:

I started by fussy cutting almost all of the flowers from Paper 02. I tried to cut as close to the image as possible, but if you look closely you can see there is still some of the navy blue around the edges of the flowers, stems, and leaves and it still looks okay!
Then I pulled the navy blue solid paper from the Project Pad and did a little bit of mixed media on the background: I splashed watered down white acrylic paint and dark blue watercolors across the entire background and let it dry.
Next, I referred to another piece of the floral Paper 02 to piece the background together and used foam squares for dimension under the flowers and leaves and liquid glue for the super thin stems. I like how the varying thicknesses create dimension and shadows. I left space for a photo and didn't adhere anything in that area.
I chose a photo of my daughter in the Bellagio gardens because I thought the colors and theme matched perfectly! I trimmed the photo into a circle and then adhered it in the open space of the layout. For the title I picked one of the stickers included in the Project Pad and placed it around the photo then I used a white pen to journal around the circle. Done!
I hope this layout inspires you to look at your papers differently and see if there are fun ways to fussy cut and transform them!
