Hi friends! I'm so excited to share these cards with you today and the tutorial to go along with them because it utilizes one of the most awesomest things about the Silhouette Cameo: the PixScan! And I used my Horizon collection with Pink Paislee.
So without further ado, here is the tutorial:
So without further ado, here is the tutorial:
I started by die cutting my Thanks Cards with Stitching Holes cut file (click on that link to download it too for free!) from white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo 3. I like designing cut files with the stitching holes rather than piercing them myself so that they're perfectly spaced. I used all six strands of white DMC embroidery floss to do a backstitch around the letters through the pre-cut stitching holes. It took about an hour to do the hand stitching.
Then I had my Silhouette Cameo 3 cut out the teeny tiny flower and leaves from Paper 23 of Horizon. It would have taken me hours to fussy cut them out by hand and I probably would have cut way too many. Guess how long it took the machine to cut them out? 14 minutes and 22 seconds. SUCH A TIME SAVER! And you know what that means? More time for scrapbooking! Win win. This is one of the major reasons I recommend a Cameo. One card down, onto the next!
For this second card I also did a simple backstitch with all six strands of white DMC embroidery floss through the sentiment. It's a bit fiddly to hand stitch through such a delicate die cut, but with practice you can do it! Then I used the "THANKS" backing pieces included in the cut file to cut out the letters from six Horizon patterned papers. To attach the backing pieces to the sentiment I used liquid glue.

When I cut the paper for the card background I originally was planning to use the yellow floral B-side of Paper 03 but then when I noticed the beautiful rainbow sunburst pattern on the other side my color-loving heart couldn't see past it so ultimately that's the side I decided to have showing :) I used double-sided tape to attach the stitched sentiment on the front.
I hope this post inspires you to try out the PixScan feature on your Silhouette Cameo! It's one of my favorite things about this amazing tool. And be sure to pick up my Horizon collection with Pink Paislee!

ReplyDeleteI have downloaded the card file but there aren't any cutlines. I am such a newbie on the Cameo. Could someone help with how to create cutlines for this adorable card?
