Hi everyone, Jana Maiwald-McCarthy here and I have a new layout to share with you. For this project I decided to make something special and as soon as I saw the new Heart Swirls cut file I knew exactly what I wanted to create. I used items from Whimsical & Horizon, and navy foam Mini Thickers from the Pick-Me-Up collection.
I started with the Heart Swirls cut file - I re-sized the file a bit and cut it out from white cardstock. Then I grabbed some colored cardstock in two pink tones, light purple, light and dark blue. I made a lot of ¼" strips out of them. My idea was to glue them onto the swirls. I wanted to have a lot of dimension and I really love how it turned out!
This took me some hours, but it was totally worth the time and effort. I only added some matching watercolor splatters over the finished design and the white background paper. I started to look through all of the chipboard stickers and die cuts I have from Paige's collections and I grabbed some crafty Whimsical Chipboard Stickers, a beautiful Chipboard Sticker bird from Horizon, and a chipboard word sticker from Oh My Heart.
I placed Paper 03 behind my photo, distressed the edges, and glued it down with hot glue. All of the stickers were placed around the photo. I tried to stay in the same colors but also added some new colors to the mix. I glued everything down with hot glue because of the thin paper swirls underneath. The final touches were some fussy cut flowers from the Whimsical 12x12 Paper Pad, a flower from Horizon Paper 02, and some mini Thickers from Whimsical and Pick-Me-Up. I also ripped the background paper on two edges and placed Horizon Paper 16 and Paper 16 from Whimsical behind the open spots.
I really love how this layout turned out and I really hope you like it too!
