Hey friends, it's Jamie Pate here with a brand new layout highlighting one of Paige's Butterfly cut files. Having always loved butterflies I am super drawn to this open butterfly cut file. It has this great ethereal vibe. It is a great cut on a page spread, a card, or even a MemoryDex card. And it certainly is a must have icon for one's cut file library.
A couple of other must-have paper cuts are found on this page too. The Branch cut file was cut a couple of times in that complementary yellow. Several cuts are sort of cascading from the center of the butterfly. These layers are lovely and add to the delicate appearance of the butterfly. I find it easy to pre-cut papers in branches or leaves or flowers. I just store these in a little glass bowl and have at the ready for when I get the chance to craft.
Atop the branches I added a tag that I cut away from the Whimsical Paper 18. Those little phrases make for great tags and sentiments. To finish the look I also layered a label and a striped paper from my stash. This was a perfect title for this page.
To keep this layout soft and airy, the background, of course, is white cardstock. I only used two patterned paper strips along the width of the background cardstock. This gave my embellishment cluster and photo an anchor point on the page.
Two more things to point out. The yellow flowers are cut from the (also must have) Flower Garden Background. These tiny cuts make great embellishments to sprinkle around on a page. But then... I used that same cut as a stencil to add some yellow watercolor pattern to the white cardstock. I love how I was able to work that cut file twice. Not only that, the pattern makes a wonderful background.
Several ideas for you for use on your next layout. Be sure to grab those 'must-have' cut files. Pretty sure you will be using them over and over again too.
